The single-row FAG spherical roller bearing 20216 -K-TVP-C3 (80x140x26 mm) offers high radial load-carrying capacity in the event of misalignment, thanks to its tapered bore and increased C3 clearance.
The FAG 20216 -K-TVP-C3 spherical roller bearing is a self-aligning roller bearing designed for demanding radial loads. With an 80 mm bore, an outer diameter of 140 mm and a width of 26 mm, the spherical roller design compensates for shaft deflection. Designed as an open bearing, the lubricant can be applied directly. The material of the TVP polyamide cage withstands temperatures ranging from –30 to +120 degrees, whilst manufacture to tolerance class P0 ensures standardised dimensional accuracy.
This rolling bearing is suitable for designs in which high radial forces act on the bearing location and angular misalignment occurs at the same time. Typical applications are found in general mechanical engineering on long shaft guides that are subject to elastic deflection. The bearing automatically compensates for misalignment between the housing and the shaft. As this is an open design, you can flexibly determine the type of lubricant and relubrication intervals based on the environmental conditions of your plant.
The suffix ‘K’ denotes the tapered bore with a ratio of 1:12. This design facilitates mounting on tapered shaft seats or, with the aid of suitable clamping sleeves, on cylindrical shafts. When fitted onto the tapered seat, the radial clearance is measurably reduced. This is why this design comes with a slightly increased C3 bearing clearance as standard. It compensates for the compression of the inner ring and operational thermal expansion, and prevents seizing during continuous operation.
The main dimensions are 80 mm internal diameter, 140 mm external diameter and a width of 26 mm. The internal bore is tapered at a ratio of 1:12. The manufacturing accuracy complies with the specifications of the standard tolerance class P0 or ABEC 1 for industrial use.
TVP refers to a polyamide cage. This material is characterised by its low weight, good damping properties and quiet running. The cage guides the barrel-shaped rollers securely and is suitable for operating temperatures between -30 and +120 degrees.
In the case of bearings with a tapered bore, the radial clearance is reduced when the bearing is pressed onto the shaft seat or a mounting sleeve. The slightly increased factory-set bearing clearance (C3) compensates for this elastic expansion of the inner ring during installation. It also absorbs thermal expansion during operation.
The bearing does not come with any integrated sealing washers fitted by the manufacturer. Protection against dirt and moisture is therefore provided by the housing design, for example through external sealing rings or labyrinth seals. At the same time, the open design allows for initial filling with grease as required or integration into oil circulation systems.
A spherical roller bearing has a single row of spherical rollers, whilst self-aligning roller bearings have two rows. Spherical roller bearings primarily accommodate radial loads and are suitable for lower axial forces. However, they offer the same ability to compensate for misalignment and angular deflections of the shaft.
The component is approved for use in a temperature range of -30 to +120 degrees. This limit is primarily determined by the durability of the polyamide cage. For applications with continuous operating temperatures above this range, alternative metal cage designs are required.
