The SKF 29420 E axial self-aligning roller bearing accommodates high axial loads on one side, with a 100 mm bore, 210 mm outer diameter and 67 mm width.
This 29420 E axial self-aligning roller bearing is designed as a single-acting rolling bearing for demanding industrial applications. The version made from standard bearing steel 100Cr6 features raceways arranged at an angle to the bearing axis, enabling the bearing to accommodate radial load components in addition to dominant axial forces. Thanks to the crowned rollers, the component automatically compensates for misalignment or shaft deflection during operation. SKF’s Explorer design offers an optimised internal geometry for even load distribution.
The bearing is primarily used in mounting arrangements subject to high unilateral axial forces and simultaneous radial loads. As the design compensates for angular misalignment, it is suitable for applications where the housing may deform during operation or where the shaft may deflect elastically under load. The sheet steel cage guides the rolling elements and supports operation across a wide temperature range from –30 to +200 degrees Celsius.
The integrated sheet steel cage combines low weight with mechanical stability. It keeps the barrel-shaped rollers at a distance from one another and allows unobstructed access of lubricant to the contact surfaces. Manufactured to tolerance class P0/PN (corresponding to ABEC 1), the bearing meets standardised precision specifications for mechanical engineering. To ensure slip-free operation, the single-acting bearing always requires a minimum axial load due to operational conditions.
The design can accommodate high unilateral axial loads as well as moderate radial forces. Thanks to its spherical raceways, it automatically compensates for angular misalignment between the shaft and the housing. The Explorer version from SKF features optimised roller contact geometry.
The component has an internal diameter of 100 mm. The external diameter is 210 mm, with a height of 67 mm. These dimensions precisely define the required installation space on the shaft and within the bearing housing.
The assembly is designed for operating temperatures ranging from -30 to +200 degrees Celsius. The standard 100Cr6 roller bearing steel and the robust sheet steel cage retain their dimensional stability within this range. The choice of lubricant must be tailored to this range.
Axial-thrust roller bearings require a constant minimum axial force during operation to ensure that the rollers run on the raceways without slipping. Operation without a load can lead to sliding and increased wear on the rolling elements.
The bearing is manufactured to the standard tolerance class P0 or PN, which corresponds to the ABEC 1 classification. This manufacturing precision meets the standard requirements in general mechanical engineering and gearbox construction.
