At a glance: SKF 53316 single-direction axial deep groove ball bearing with an 80 mm bore, designed for high axial loads in mechanical engineering and plant construction.
The SKF 53316 axial deep groove ball bearing accommodates single-direction axial forces in industrial drivetrains and machine designs. With a bore of 80 mm, an outer diameter of 140 mm and a height of 47.6 mm, this component guides shafts in an axial direction. Manufactured from standard rolling-bearing steel 100Cr6 and fitted with a sheet steel cage, this rolling bearing is designed for operating temperatures ranging from –30 to +150 degrees. Both maintenance engineers and purchasers will find here a standard component conforming to tolerance class P0/PN or ABEC 1.
This thrust bearing is primarily used where pure axial compressive loads in a single direction must be absorbed. Designs in general mechanical engineering utilise this type for the longitudinal guidance of rotating shaft components. As axial deep-groove ball bearings, by their very nature, cannot accommodate radial loads, the radial guidance of the shaft is always provided by separate radial bearings. The integrated sheet steel cage guides the rolling elements evenly and is designed for operation within the specified temperature range.
The 53316 axial deep-groove ball bearing features a spherical housing disc. In conjunction with a suitable washer, this design enables the compensation of static misalignment between the shaft and the housing. The scope of supply comprises the axial bearing only; washers must be ordered separately if required. Before installation, check whether the bearing surfaces in the housing are flat or whether you require a spherical washer for angular adjustment. Compliance with tolerance class P0/PN ensures dimensional accuracy in accordance with the relevant standards.
The dimensions are 80 mm internal diameter at the shaft flange, 140 mm external diameter at the housing flange and 47.6 mm overall height. Manufacturing is carried out to the standard tolerance class P0/PN or ABEC 1, ensuring that the mounting dimensions comply with standardised industry requirements.
As a single-direction bearing, this design is intended solely for axial forces acting on the shaft collar from a single direction. The component must not bear any radial loads. A suitable radial bearing must therefore always be fitted in parallel within the bearing arrangement to fully absorb any transverse forces acting on the shaft.
The housing washer in this series has a hollow spherical design. When used in conjunction with a separately available washer with a spherical seating surface, the bearing can compensate for misalignment and manufacturing-related skew between the housing and the shaft. Without this additional washer, the angular adjustability in the housing seat cannot be utilised due to the design.
The permissible operating range extends from -30 to +150 degrees. Both the standard roller bearing steel 100Cr6 and the steel sheet cage used retain their dimensional and shape stability within this range. When designing the system, you must ensure that the lubricant used is also approved for the relevant operating temperatures.
The scope of supply includes the axial deep-groove ball bearing, comprising a shaft washer, a housing washer and a ball-cage assembly. Washers for utilising the spherical adjustment surface are available as a separate accessory. If your housing design requires angular compensation via a shim, please order the appropriate spherical washer for your assembly separately.
This roller bearing incorporates a pressed sheet steel cage. This cage guides the balls at defined intervals and prevents the rolling elements from coming into contact with one another during rotational movement. It is characterised by its low weight and good resistance to standard lubricants and temperatures up to +150 degrees.
