The SKF 53309 axial deep groove ball bearing accommodates single-sided axial forces with a 45 mm bore, an 85 mm outer diameter and a 30.1 mm overall height.
The 53309 axial deep-groove ball bearing accommodates pure axial forces in one direction and provides single-sided axial support for the mounted shaft. SKF manufactures the components from standard rolling-bearing steel (100Cr6). A dimensionally stable sheet steel cage guides the rolling elements evenly along their paths. The bearing is designed for operating temperatures ranging from –30 to +150 °C and meets the standard tolerance class P0/PN (ABEC 1). As it cannot accommodate radial forces, it is combined in the design with separate radial bearings.
This axial bearing is used in bearing arrangements where pure axial forces must be supported in one direction. The separable design facilitates assembly: the shaft ring, housing ring and ball-cage assembly can be assembled separately and then positioned and fitted onto the shaft one after the other. Additional radial bearings ensure that no transverse forces act on the axial bearing.
The 53309 axial deep-groove ball bearing features a spherical housing washer that can compensate for misalignment between the shaft and the housing. This compensating movement works in conjunction with a suitable spherical shim. In the case of slight misalignments or deflections, the housing disc settles into the recess of the washer, helping to prevent edge stresses. The scope of supply includes the axial deep-groove ball bearing without a washer, meaning that the contact surface of the connecting structure must be specified separately.
A single-direction axial bearing with a spherical housing disc supports axial forces in one direction and can be dismantled in a modular fashion. The design, comprising 100Cr6 rolling-bearing steel and a sheet steel cage, is intended for axial load conditions.
The bore is 45 mm, the outer diameter is 85 mm and the overall height is 30.1 mm. These standardised key dimensions enable a precise fit when installed on corresponding shaft shoulders and in housing bores.
The rear face of the housing disc is spherical. If the bearing is mounted on a separately available hollow spherical washer, the housing disc slides down onto it. In this way, the bearing mechanically compensates for misalignment and alignment errors between the shaft and the connected structure.
The supply comprises only the 53309 axial deep-groove ball bearing, consisting of a shaft washer, a ball-cage assembly and a spherical housing washer. Washers are not included in the supply. If the bearing is to compensate for misalignment, you must provide the appropriate shim separately.
The roller bearing is designed for a temperature range of -30 to +150 °C. The materials used – standard roller bearing steel and sheet steel – retain their dimensional stability within this range. During operation, ensure that you use a lubricant suitable for your operating temperature.
No, axial deep-groove ball bearings are designed exclusively to accommodate axial forces. Radial loads can damage the raceways and cause the ball rings to tilt. For combined loads, the shaft must always be supported radially by a separate radial bearing.
