The FAG 52210 double-acting axial deep groove ball bearing (40x78x39 mm) accommodates axial forces in both directions.
The 52210 axial deep-groove ball bearing guides shafts precisely in the axial direction and supports axial loads acting from both sides. With a bore of 40 mm, an outside diameter of 78 mm and a height of 39 mm, this design is suitable for compact installation spaces in mechanical engineering. The integrated sheet steel cage guides the rolling elements evenly within the raceways. As it is manufactured from standard roller bearing steel 100Cr6, the bearing withstands thermal stresses in the range from –30 to +150 degrees Celsius.
The 52210 axial deep groove ball bearing is used wherever pure axial forces act alternately on a shaft. Thanks to its double-acting design, the bearing fixes the position of the components in both directions. Due to its design, this rolling bearing must not support purely radial loads; therefore, a separate radial bearing arrangement must be provided in designs. Typical applications include bearing arrangements in mechanical engineering subject to alternating axial loads.
This rolling bearing is a rigid design which does not automatically compensate for angular misalignment caused by manufacturing or assembly. The mounting surfaces on the housing and the shaft must therefore be machined at right angles to the axis of rotation. The model complies with standard tolerance P0 or ABEC 1. The design comprises the axial deep-groove ball bearing without shims, so that the housing flanges bear directly against the flat contact surfaces of the housing structure.
As a double-acting roller bearing, this component absorbs pure axial forces from both directions. It is designed to guide the shaft axially, either without play or with a defined amount of play. The bearing is not suitable for radial loads. Always combine it within the system with suitable radial bearings to prevent transverse loads from affecting the axial raceways.
The axial deep-groove ball bearing has an inner diameter of 40 mm, an outer diameter of 78 mm and a total width of 39 mm. These standardised key dimensions enable a precise fit when installed in existing housing bores and on corresponding shaft sections in accordance with the specifications of the relevant design drawing.
The bearing washers and rolling elements are made from standard 100Cr6 rolling bearing steel. This case-hardened chrome steel offers high wear resistance and dimensional stability. Together with the robust sheet steel cage, the bearing covers a wide operating temperature range of -30 to +150 degrees Celsius in industrial applications.
No, this model is not angle-adjustable. The flat housing discs require precisely machined, right-angled mating surfaces on both the shaft and the housing. Any misalignment between the shaft and the housing axis results in uneven load distribution across the rolling elements and reduces service life. Separate designs with spherical housing discs would be required to compensate for angular misalignment.
The bearing is manufactured to tolerance class P0 or PN, which corresponds to class ABEC 1 in the US. This standard tolerance offers reliable dimensional and running accuracy for general mechanical engineering. Special high-precision fits are not usually required for this standard class.
This article covers double-row axial deep-groove ball bearings without shims. During operation, the flat housing washers rest directly against the flat surfaces of the machine housing. If a design requires additional shims to adjust the axial clearance or to transmit forces, these must be supplied separately.
