The SKF 51101 single-direction axial deep groove ball bearing transmits axial forces in one direction and, measuring 12x26x9 mm, requires little installation space.
The 51101 axial deep-groove ball bearing is designed to support purely axial loads parallel to the shaft axis. SKF manufactures this component from standard rolling-element bearing steel (100Cr6), which ensures the components have high dimensional stability. With compact dimensions of a 12 mm bore, 26 mm outer diameter and 9 mm height, the bearing supports shafts axially on one side. Due to its design, this construction must not bear radial forces, which is why designers always provide separate radial guidance.
This thrust bearing is used in bearing arrangements where unidirectional thrust forces parallel to the axis of rotation must be absorbed. A guided sheet steel cage maintains the spacing between the rolling elements and allows for an operating temperature range of -30 to +150 degrees Celsius. The design complies with the standard tolerance class P0/PN or ABEC 1 for common industrial requirements regarding dimensional and concentricity accuracy.
This model is not angle-adjustable and is sensitive to misalignment between the shaft and the housing. As the design does not include a shim, the mating parts must be manufactured to be exactly flat and at right angles to the axis of rotation. Otherwise, misalignment will result in uneven load distribution across the raceways. During installation, care must be taken to ensure the correct pairing of the shaft washer and housing washer, as their inner diameters differ slightly to ensure precise guidance.
This bearing can only accommodate axial loads in one direction. This design cannot absorb radial forces. For combined loads, designers therefore usually combine this axial bearing with a separate radial bearing on the same shaft.
With a bore of 12 mm, an external diameter of 26 mm and a height of 9 mm, the component has compact dimensions. These standardised dimensions allow for space-saving installation in confined spaces.
No, the bearing is not angle-adjustable. The contact surfaces on the shaft and housing must be exactly at right angles to the axis of rotation. This design does not compensate for misalignments caused during installation or shaft deflection without special compensating elements.
The bearing washers and balls are made of standard roller bearing steel (100Cr6), which ensures high strength. The rolling elements are guided by a dimensionally stable sheet steel cage, which is designed for an operating temperature range of -30 to +150 degrees Celsius.
The scope of supply includes the single-acting axial deep-groove ball bearing without any additional washers. The housing washer rests directly against the flat housing shoulder; therefore, the adjacent structure should have a correspondingly finely machined and rigid contact surface.
