The SKF 52218 double-acting axial deep groove ball bearing accommodates axial forces in both directions and has dimensions of 75 x 135 x 62 mm.
The 52218 axial deep-groove ball bearing is designed for the precise axial guidance of shafts in mechanical engineering. This SKF design is double-acting and supports axial forces from both directions. Due to its design, this bearing type is not intended to accommodate radial loads. Manufactured from standard rolling-element bearing steel (100Cr6), the assembly is characterised by excellent dimensional stability in continuous industrial operation.
This rolling bearing is used where alternating axial thrust forces occur on rotating shafts. Typical applications include bearing arrangements in general mechanical engineering that require defined axial guidance on both sides. A robust sheet steel cage guides the rolling elements evenly along their raceways. Thanks to its temperature resistance range of –30 to +150 degrees, the component continues to function correctly even when subjected to process-related heat.
The bearing is not angle-adjustable and is sensitive to misalignment between the shaft and housing axes. Planar, parallel contact surfaces and a right-angled alignment of the connecting structure are essential to avoid edge stresses. The model is supplied as a bearing only, without washers. It is manufactured to the standard tolerance P0/PN (equivalent to ABEC 1), which makes it easy to implement standard fit specifications in a conventional industrial setting.
A double-acting axial roller bearing that guides and secures shafts in both axial directions. The design comprises a shaft ring, two housing rings and two separate ball rings with a sheet steel cage. The component absorbs axial compressive forces only and must not be subjected to any significant radial loads.
The bore for the shaft measures 75 mm, whilst the outer diameter of the housing is 135 mm. Across the entire assembly, this results in an installation width of 62 mm. These standardised dimensions allow for a precise fit when installing the unit into prefabricated machine housings and onto prepared shaft shoulders.
The bearings are designed for an operating temperature range of between -30 and +150 degrees Celsius. The dimensional stability of the raceways, made from 100Cr6 rolling bearing steel, is maintained within these limits. When commissioning the bearing, always ensure that the selected lubricant meets the same thermal requirements.
No, this bearing is not angle-adjustable. The flat contact surfaces require all connecting parts on the housing and shaft to be machined to a precise right angle. Otherwise, misalignment or shaft deflection will lead to localised overloading of the balls, which can significantly reduce the service life of the components.
This designation indicates the standard tolerance for industrial rolling bearings in terms of dimensional, geometric and running accuracy. It ensures interchangeability in accordance with international standards. For most drives in general mechanical engineering, this tolerance class provides a tried-and-tested basis for reliable fits.
The pure axial deep-groove ball bearing is supplied without shims. Additional spherical compensation washers are not included in the package. Before installation, check that the adjacent machine parts provide the necessary flat support surfaces to support the housing washers over their entire surface area without causing distortion.
