The FAG 52213 double-acting axial deep groove ball bearing supports shafts axially in both directions and has dimensions of 55 × 100 × 47 mm.
The 52213 axial deep-groove ball bearing provides designers and maintenance engineers with a double-acting axial bearing for industrial applications. This FAG rolling bearing is made from standard rolling bearing steel (100Cr6) and features a sheet steel cage. With an inside diameter of 55 mm, an outside diameter of 100 mm and a width of 47 mm, the assembly accommodates pure axial loads from both directions. This product is supplied without washers and complies with tolerance class P0 or ABEC 1.
The 52213 axial deep groove ball bearing is designed exclusively to accommodate axial forces acting alternately or continuously from both axial directions. It guides the mounted shaft in the axial position on both sides. Typical applications include bearing arrangements subject to alternating axial thrust forces. No radial load must act on the bearing; therefore, designs must incorporate a separate radial guide. With a permissible temperature range of –30 to +150 °C, the bearing is designed for thermally demanding operating conditions.
As this design is not angularly adjustable, the bearing is sensitive to misalignment or skewing of the shaft. Planar, parallel contact surfaces in the housing and on the shaft help to prevent edge stresses on the rolling elements. Before assembly, the mounting dimensions and the perpendicularity of the shoulders must be checked. As the product scope does not include shims, the bearing rests directly against the machined mating surfaces. The sheet steel cage guides the rolling elements at normal operating temperature.
Double-acting axial bearings, such as the 52213 model, accommodate axial forces from two directions and guide shafts axially in both directions. The assembly consists of two housing discs, a central shaft disc and two sets of balls with a sheet steel cage. This type of bearing cannot accommodate radial loads, which is why users must absorb radial forces using separate radial bearings.
The bearing has a bore of 55 mm, an outer diameter of 100 mm and a total width of 47 mm. During design and when replacement is required, these standardised dimensions ensure that the shaft washer and the two housing washers fit precisely into the designated mounting points of the assembly.
The bearing complies with tolerance class P0 or PN and ABEC 1. This standard tolerance provides a defined level of running accuracy and dimensional stability for industrial applications. It allows for straightforward replacement during maintenance work without the need for adjustments to the housing or shaft seats.
This model is not angle-adjustable and has flat housing discs without spherical compensation. Alignment errors between the housing bore and the shaft cannot therefore be compensated for. Misalignment leads to uneven load distribution across the raceways, which is why right-angled contact shoulders on the shaft and a precise housing mounting are required.
The bearing is designed for operating temperatures ranging from -30 to +150 °C. The bearing rings and rolling elements, made from standard rolling-bearing steel (100Cr6), as well as the sheet steel cage, are suitable for these thermal conditions. When selecting the lubricant, care must be taken to ensure that the grease or lubricating oil is suitable for the relevant operating temperature.
The scope of supply includes the 52213 axial deep-groove ball bearing without washers. Spacers are typically used in variants with spherical housing washers. This model, which features flat washers, is mounted directly onto flat shoulders and does not require spherical spacers.
