Axial Deep Groove Ball B. SKF 51106

The SKF 51106 single-direction axial deep groove ball bearing accommodates axial forces in one direction whilst maintaining compact dimensions of 30 × 47 × 11 mm.

The 51106 axial deep-groove ball bearing guides shafts in the axial direction and supports axial forces. Manufactured from standard rolling-element bearing steel (100Cr6), this bearing consists of a shaft ring, a housing ring and the ball set housed between them. SKF manufactures this version to standard tolerances (tolerance class P0/PN or ABEC 1). In mechanical engineering, the separable design allows for the individual components to be fitted separately and in an organised manner onto the shaft and housing.

What loads can the 51106 axial deep-groove ball bearing accommodate?

This design is suitable for applications where purely axial forces act in a defined direction. In bearing arrangements, the rolling bearing absorbs the axial thrust load via the grooves in both rings. The axial bearing must not bear any radial forces; for combined loads, it is therefore necessary to supplement it with separate radial bearings. In addition, a minimum axial load must be maintained to ensure that the rolling elements roll in the raceways without slippage.

What is important to consider with the non-angle-adjustable design?

The bearing has flat contact surfaces and is not angle-adjustable. The connecting parts on the shaft and housing must therefore be machined at right angles to the axis of rotation. Otherwise, misalignment or skewing will lead to localised edge loads on the raceways. The integrated sheet steel cage guides the rolling elements and, together with the roller bearing steel, is suitable for a temperature range of -30 °C to +150 °C.

What makes the 51106 axial deep-groove ball bearing stand out?

As a single-direction rolling bearing, the SKF 51106 axial deep-groove ball bearing supports axial forces in a defined direction. It consists of separable components made from standard 100Cr6 rolling-element bearing steel with a sheet steel cage. Due to the flat housing flange, the design requires precisely perpendicular contact surfaces on the shaft and housing.

What are the dimensions of the 51106 axial bearing?

The main dimensions are a bore diameter of 30 mm, an outside diameter of 47 mm and a height of 11 mm. The shaft washer fits onto the shaft with a tight fit, whilst the housing washer has a slightly larger bore to allow for non-contact guidance.

What loads can the bearing withstand?

This design is capable of withstanding only axial forces in one direction. Due to its design, the bearing cannot transmit radial forces. If additional radial forces occur in an application, separate radial bearings must be used to support the shaft transversely to the axis.

What temperature range is the bearing suitable for?

The permissible operating temperature range extends from -30 °C to +150 °C. Both the 100Cr6 rolling-bearing steel and the sheet steel cage are designed for this range. In practical design, the temperature range of the selected lubricant must also be taken into account.

Are washers included with the item?

The scope of supply comprises only the axial deep-groove ball bearing itself, consisting of a shaft ring, a housing ring and a ball cage. Washers are not included. Rigid and flat housing and shaft shoulders must therefore be provided for installation.

What does tolerance class P0 or ABEC 1 mean?

The designations P0 and PN denote the standard tolerance for rolling bearings in accordance with international standards, comparable to the ABEC 1 specification. They define the permissible dimensional and geometric deviations and cover standard requirements for concentricity and fit accuracy.
