The FAG 51211 axial deep-groove ball bearing, with dimensions of 55x90x25 mm, supports single-sided axial forces in mechanical engineering.
The 51211 axial deep-groove ball bearing is a separable rolling bearing comprising a shaft ring, a housing ring and a guided set of balls. FAG manufactures this bearing from standard roller bearing steel (100Cr6), combined with a dimensionally stable sheet steel cage. The design accommodates axial loads only and guides shafts with a diameter of 55 mm axially in one direction. This design cannot accommodate radial forces. It is used wherever pure thrust forces in the longitudinal direction of the shaft need to be controlled.
Design engineers select the 51211 axial deep groove ball bearing primarily for bearing arrangements where high axial compressive forces act from a single direction. Thanks to its design to tolerance class P0/PN (corresponding to ABEC 1), the component is suitable for standard requirements in general mechanical engineering. The permissible temperature range is from –30 to +150 degrees. As the bearing has a separable design, the shaft and housing washers can be fitted independently of one another, which facilitates maintenance work and inspections on assemblies.
This rolling bearing is not angularly adjustable and does not include a separate shim. Both the shaft ring and the housing ring have flat contact surfaces. The mating surfaces on the housing and shaft must therefore be manufactured to be plane-parallel and at right angles to the axis of rotation. Misalignment or skewing leads to uneven edge loads on the rolling elements, which accelerates wear. Suitable lubrication is also required for operation, as the bearing is designed as an open type without integrated mechanical seals.
This design accommodates purely axial forces in one direction and provides axial support for shafts. The assembly consists of a shaft washer, a housing washer, and a ball and cage seat. It is suitable for precisely guided shafts, but must not be subjected to any radial loads.
The bearing has a bore diameter of 55 mm at the shaft flange, an outer diameter of 90 mm at the housing flange and a total width of 25 mm for both flanges when fitted. These standardised dimensions allow for direct replacement in existing assemblies of the same series.
No, this model is not angle-adjustable. The housing flange has a flat contact surface and the bearing does not contain a washer. The mating surfaces on the housing and on the shaft must be plane-parallel and aligned at right angles to the axis of rotation in order to prevent localised overloads on the rolling elements.
Both the discs and the balls are made of standard roller bearing steel (100Cr6), which is characterised by high hardness and wear resistance. The integrated cage is designed as a pressed sheet steel cage. The components are designed for an operating temperature range of between -30 and +150 degrees.
The bearing complies with tolerance class P0 or PN (standard tolerance), which corresponds to ABEC 1. This precision class offers the dimensional and concentricity accuracy typically required in general industry and mechanical engineering for standardised fittings.
The model has an open design and does not feature an integrated contact or gap seal. In practice, the machine’s overall housing design provides protection against the ingress of contaminants and the leakage of lubricant.
