Axial Deep Groove Ball B. FAG 52312

The FAG 52312 axial deep-groove ball bearing supports axial forces in both directions and has the main dimensions 50 x 110 x 64 mm.

The 52312 axial deep-groove ball bearing is designed for the precise axial guidance of shafts in mechanical and plant engineering. As a double-acting rolling bearing, this design accommodates thrust forces from two opposite directions. Manufactured from hardened standard roller bearing steel 100Cr6, the raceways offer high compressive strength and dimensional stability. Thanks to its design to standard tolerances in accordance with P0/PN or ABEC 1, the component can be integrated precisely into standardised housings.

What loads does the double-acting bearing 52312 accommodate?

The bearing is primarily used in designs where shafts must be fixed purely axially when the load direction changes. The bearing accommodates axial forces only, whilst radial forces must be supported by separate radial bearings. The rolling elements run in a dimensionally stable sheet steel cage, which guides the balls even during rapid changes in rotational speed. As this model is designed for operating temperatures ranging from –30 to +150 degrees, it is suitable for a wide range of thermal operating conditions.

What does the double-acting design mean for installation?

A double-acting bearing consists of a central shaft disc, two housing discs and two separate sets of balls. The shaft disc is fixed to the shaft, whilst the housing discs are supported within the housing. Please note that this design is not angle-adjustable. Planar-parallel mounting shoulders and a precisely right-angled alignment to the axis of rotation are required to avoid edge stresses. The scope of supply includes the rolling bearing without additional shims.

What makes the 52312 axial deep-groove ball bearing stand out?

This roller bearing accommodates pure axial loads from two opposite directions. With a bore of 50 mm, an outer diameter of 110 mm and a height of 64 mm, it is suitable for shafts that need to be fixed at both ends. The integrated sheet steel cage guides the rolling elements precisely at temperatures between –30 and +150 degrees.

Can the bearing also absorb radial forces?

Axial deep-groove ball bearings are designed exclusively to accommodate forces in the direction of the shaft axis. If radial forces are also present in an application, you must fit a separate radial bearing alongside the axial bearing. In the case of pure axial bearings, a radial load leads to premature wear and damage to the raceways.

What is the tolerance class of this component?

The bearing complies with the P0/PN tolerance class, which is also known internationally as ABEC 1. This class meets the standard requirements of general mechanical engineering in terms of dimensional accuracy and concentricity. The manufacturing tolerances allow for a predictable selection of fits for the shaft and housing.

Can alignment errors be corrected?

This version is not angle-adjustable. This means that any misalignment between the shaft and the housing bore cannot be compensated for by the bearing. During design and assembly, take great care to ensure that all contact shoulders are machined at right angles to the bearing axis in order to prevent uneven load peaks.

What material is the 52312 axial deep-groove ball bearing made of?

The bearing washers and balls are made from standard roller bearing steel (100Cr6). This case-hardened chrome steel offers high hardness and wear resistance under varying load conditions. The cage is made from stamped sheet steel, which combines low weight with stability.
