The FAG 51312 axial deep-groove ball bearing accommodates axial forces in one direction and measures 60 × 110 × 35 mm.
The FAG 51312 axial deep-groove ball bearing is a single-acting rolling bearing designed to accommodate purely axial forces. The component guides shafts in a defined direction and directly supports axial loads. With a bore of 60 mm, an outside diameter of 110 mm and a height of 35 mm, this roller bearing, made from standard roller bearing steel (100Cr6), provides a stable foundation for industrial applications. The integrated sheet steel cage guides the rolling elements evenly between the ground raceways of the shaft and housing rings.
This rolling bearing is used wherever axial forces need to be absorbed specifically in one direction. Typical applications include vertical shaft mountings and arrangements in which pure thrust forces act axially. As the bearing is not angularly adjustable, the design requires the mounting surfaces to be aligned at right angles to the axis of rotation. This bearing design is not intended for radial loads. Under purely axial loading, the temperature range of –30 to +150 degrees Celsius is designed to withstand demanding thermal environmental conditions.
When fitting this bearing without a washer, care must be taken to ensure the correct alignment of the two raceways. The shaft race has a tighter bore of 60 mm to ensure a tight fit on the shaft, whilst the housing race has a slightly larger internal diameter. The bearing complies with tolerance class P0/PN (ABEC 1) and requires flat, rigid contact surfaces to prevent edge loading on the rolling elements. As no seals are integrated, users must select a lubricant and external sealing solution appropriate to the environmental conditions.
The bearing has a bore of 60 mm, an outside diameter of 110 mm and a height of 35 mm. Thanks to these standardised key dimensions, the roller bearing fits perfectly into existing shaft designs. When designing the assembly, it should be noted that the housing flange and the shaft flange have different fit diameters.
This roller bearing is designed to support only axial loads acting on the bearing axis from a single direction. This design is not intended for radial forces. If combined radial and axial loads occur in the system, the thrust bearing is usually combined with a separate radial bearing on the same shaft.
The permissible operating range is between -30 and +150 degrees Celsius. Both the bearing shells and balls, made from 100Cr6 rolling-element bearing steel, and the sheet steel cage are designed for this temperature range. It is important for reliable operation that the lubricant used is suited to the respective operating temperature.
No, this version is not angle-adjustable. The bearing is sensitive to misalignment between the shaft and the housing. Mounting surfaces must therefore be machined to be flat and perpendicular to the bearing axis. Any angular misalignment could only be compensated for using spherical housing washers and suitable shims, which are not included here.
The P0/PN or ABEC 1 classification defines the standardised dimensional, geometric and running accuracy of the rolling bearing. This tolerance class meets common requirements in mechanical engineering and contributes to consistent concentricity when the mating parts are machined correctly.
The sheet steel cage keeps the rolling elements spaced apart and prevents the balls from coming into contact with one another. It is characterised by its low weight combined with solid mechanical strength. Furthermore, the open design of the sheet steel cage promotes good distribution of the lubricant within the bearing chamber.
