The 52310 double-acting axial deep-groove ball bearing from FAG Wälzlager (40x95x58 mm) reliably accommodates high axial loads from both directions.
The 52310 axial deep-groove ball bearing from FAG Wälzlager is a specialised component designed for the precise guidance of shafts under purely axial loads. Constructed from standard rolling-bearing steel (100Cr6) with a robust sheet steel cage, the bearing withstands thermal stresses in the range from –30 to +150 degrees Celsius. Manufactured to tolerance class P0/PN or ABEC 1, it ensures reliable dimensional accuracy in mechanical engineering. You receive a robust component for demanding axial bearing applications.
This rolling bearing is used wherever axial forces occur in both directions and shafts need to be precisely positioned. Typical applications include shaft mountings and assemblies in which alternating thrust forces act. As the bearing is designed to accommodate axial forces only, designers typically combine it in practice with separate radial bearings. Pure axial loads are thus systematically transferred to the housing without imposing radial stresses on the rolling elements.
The 52310 axial deep-groove ball bearing is a rigid, non-angle-adjustable design without shims. Consequently, the design requires perpendicular and flat-machined contact surfaces on the housing and shaft shoulder, as misalignment cannot be automatically compensated for. The centre shaft ring is fixed to the shaft, whilst the two outer housing rings are seated in the housing. Proper lubrication helps to minimise friction on the sheet steel cage during operation.
The bearing has an inside diameter of 40 mm at the shaft flange, an outside diameter of 95 mm and a total width of 58 mm. These precise key dimensions simplify design and enable a precise fit when mounting on shaft shoulders and in housing bores in common industrial applications.
Double-acting axial bearings have two rows of balls and accommodate axial forces from both axial directions. The centre disc transmits the shaft forces, whilst two outer housing discs transfer the loads into the housing. In this way, the bearing arrangement absorbs thrust forces from both directions and guides the shaft axially.
No, axial deep-groove ball bearings are designed exclusively to accommodate purely axial forces. If subjected to simultaneous radial loads, this results in unacceptable edge loading and premature wear. If radial forces occur in the system, you must counteract them separately by fitting an additional radial bearing on the same shaft.
This model is not angle-adjustable and is supplied without spherical washers. It is therefore sensitive to misalignment between the shaft and the housing bore. The contact surfaces must be machined exactly at right angles to the axis of rotation in order to prevent localised overloads on the rolling elements and premature bearing failure.
Thanks to its construction from standard 100Cr6 roller bearing steel and its dimensionally stable sheet steel cage, the permissible operating range is between -30 and +150 degrees Celsius. To ensure trouble-free operation across this range, it is crucial to select a lubricant that covers the required temperature limits.
P0 and PN refer to the standard tolerance class in accordance with international rolling bearing standards; in the Anglo-American region, this corresponds to ABEC 1. It defines the permissible dimensional, geometric and running deviations for standard industrial applications and facilitates cost-effective and dimensionally accurate replacement during maintenance work.
