The FAG 51407 axial deep-groove ball bearing, measuring 35 × 80 × 32 mm, accommodates unidirectional axial forces within a temperature range of -30 to +150 degrees.
The FAG 51407 axial deep-groove ball bearing is a rolling bearing designed specifically to support pure axial loads in one direction. Manufactured from standard rolling-element bearing steel (100Cr6), this thrust bearing – with key dimensions of a 35 mm bore, 80 mm outer diameter and 32 mm width – offers excellent dimensional stability. Design engineers use this component when a shaft needs to be precisely supported in the axial direction. A sturdy sheet steel cage guides the rolling elements between the shaft and housing washers.
This rolling bearing is suitable for designs in which significant axial forces act from a fixed direction. Typical applications include bearing arrangements subject to high axial thrust loads and featuring vertical or horizontal shaft alignment. As the 51407 design acts on one side only, it supports the shaft specifically on one side. Please note that axial deep groove ball bearings cannot accommodate significant radial forces. For combined loads, combine this unit with a separate radial bearing on the same shaft.
The 51407 axial deep-groove ball bearing is not angularly adjustable and does not include a washer. The contact surfaces on the housing and shaft must therefore be exactly perpendicular to the axis of rotation. Even minor misalignments or shaft deflection can lead to uneven load distribution across the rolling elements. When designing the assembly, ensure that the surrounding structure is rigid. Thanks to its tolerance class P0 or ABEC 1, the component fits precisely into standardised industrial applications.
This bearing design accommodates only axial loads acting on the shaft flange from a single direction. The bearing is not designed to withstand radial loads. In practice, it is therefore often supplemented by a separate radial bearing to absorb transverse forces and prevent the assembly from tilting.
The bearing has a 35 mm bore for the shaft seat, an outer diameter of 80 mm for the housing bore, and a total height or width of 32 mm. These dimensions require a suitably dimensioned mounting arrangement on the shaft and housing.
No, model 51407 is not angle-adjustable. The flat surfaces of the housing and shaft washer require precise right-angled alignment with the axis of rotation. Misalignments between the shaft and the housing cannot be compensated for and result in edge loading of the raceways.
The bearing is designed for operating temperatures ranging from -30 to +150 degrees. Bearing washers, rolling elements made from 100Cr6 bearing steel and the sheet steel cage remain dimensionally stable within this range. The actual operating limit is also determined by the lubricant selected, the temperature range of which must be suited to the operating conditions.
The scope of supply includes the single-row axial deep-groove ball bearing, comprising a shaft washer, a housing washer and a ball-guided sheet steel cage. A spherical washer is not included, as the component is designed for flat contact surfaces.
The component is manufactured to tolerance class P0 (standard tolerance, also known internationally as ABEC 1). This class meets the usual requirements of mechanical engineering in terms of dimensional and running accuracy and is suitable for standardised fits on shafts and housings.
