The 7304 -B-XL-TVP angular contact ball bearing, measuring 20 × 52 × 15 mm, accommodates high axial forces on one side as well as radial forces.
The single-row angular contact ball bearing 7304 -B-XL-TVP from FAG Wälzlager is designed for bearing arrangements subject to combined loads. With an inner diameter of 20 mm, an outer diameter of 52 mm and a width of 15 mm, this design complies with tolerance class P0 (ABEC 1). Manufactured from 100Cr6 rolling-bearing steel, this open bearing has a standard radial clearance. As the outer ring and inner ring are manufactured without a flange or groove, the assembly can be fitted precisely into housing bores.
This rolling bearing is used where axial forces need to be absorbed specifically in one direction. Due to the contact angle, the rolling elements transmit radial and unilateral axial loads simultaneously. Where required, users can mount single-row angular contact ball bearings in pairs in an O or X arrangement, or in opposition to a second bearing, to counteract axial forces in the shaft system. In the open design, lubrication is supplied via the surrounding housing.
The 40-degree contact angle gives this design a high axial load-carrying capacity in one direction. The guided polyamide cage (TVP) keeps the weight low and contributes to quiet running. When designing the system, the permissible temperature range of –20 to +120 degrees Celsius must be taken into account, as this is determined by the plastic cage. As the bearing remains unsealed, external seals protect the raceways from the ingress of dirt and moisture.
With a cylindrical bore of 20 mm, an external diameter of 52 mm and a width of 15 mm, the bearing complies with the standardised main dimensions. Before fitting, check that the shaft seat and the housing fit correspond to these dimensions.
The contact angle of 40 degrees defines the direction of force transmission between the ball and the raceway. This angle allows for high axial load-bearing capacity in one direction, making the component suitable for designs subject to axial loads on one side.
The permissible operating range is from -20 to +120 degrees Celsius. This range is primarily determined by the thermal properties of the polyamide cage used. The lubricant selected should be suitable for the same temperature range.
As this component is designed without integrated grinding or cover discs, the bearing housing requires a seal. This measure prevents lubricant from leaking out and protects against dirt particles. Relubrication intervals depend on the operating conditions of the respective plant.
The suffix ‘TVP’ denotes a polyamide cage that guides the rolling elements. Polyamide is characterised by low friction and a low weight, which reduces noise during operation. The cage is designed for temperatures ranging from -20 to +120 degrees Celsius.
As a single-row angular contact ball bearing, this design accommodates axial forces in one direction only. In the case of alternating or bidirectional axial loads, the component is usually paired with a second angular contact ball bearing or mounted in a compound arrangement with the bearings positioned opposite each other.
