The FAG 7310 -B-XL-TVP-UO angular contact ball bearing combines a 50 mm bore with a 40-degree contact angle for combined loads in zero-backlash pairs.
The 7310 -B-XL-TVP-UO angular contact ball bearing from FAG Rolling Bearings is a single-row rolling bearing made from standard bearing steel (100Cr6) with open flanks. With an inner diameter of 50 mm, an outer diameter of 110 mm and a width of 27 mm, this component accommodates combined radial and axial forces. Thanks to its contact angle of 40 degrees, the bearing is particularly suitable for applications with significant unilateral axial loads. A dimensionally stable polyamide cage ensures smooth running of the rolling elements within the system.
Design engineers use this single-row bearing wherever high radial forces are combined with directed axial forces. The designation ‘UO’ indicates a universal design for mounting in pairs. When two bearings are mounted in an O or X arrangement, this creates a backlash-free bearing set without the need for additional shims. Typical applications include bearing arrangements with combined loads and fixed axial guidance. The bearing operates within a temperature range of -20 to +120 degrees and requires external lubrication.
The designation TVP refers to a lightweight polyamide cage, which ensures low inertial forces. The abbreviation UO describes universal pairing capability. If you mount this rolling bearing in pairs facing each other, the raceways automatically adjust to eliminate play. For open bearings without integrated seals, select a suitable housing seal to keep out contaminants. The bearings are manufactured to tolerance class P0/PN or ABEC 1 with standard radial clearance.
The main dimensions are 50 mm internal diameter, 110 mm external diameter and 27 mm width. The outer ring is cylindrical, with no flange or groove. These dimensions allow for direct alignment with the design specifications of the surrounding bearing housing.
Thanks to the 40-degree contact angle, the rolling elements effectively transfer axial forces from one bearing ring to the other. As a result, the component can accommodate higher axial loads in one direction than bearings with a smaller contact angle. During operation, this geometry also supports simultaneously acting radial forces.
The designation ‘UO’ refers to a universal bearing designed for installation in pairs. When users fit two of these bearings opposite each other in an O or X configuration, the bearing assembly immediately achieves a play-free condition. With this system, there is no need for additional spacer rings or complex adjustment work to set the preload.
The rings and balls are made from standard roller bearing steel 100Cr6. This material offers high hardness and dimensional stability under load. A polyamide cage, designated TVP, is used to guide the rows of balls. This plastic cage is characterised by its low weight and good damping properties.
The permissible operating range extends from -20 to +120 degrees. This operating window is limited, amongst other things, by the material of the polyamide cage. To ensure smooth operation, the open bearing requires a carefully regulated supply of lubricant from the surrounding machine housing whilst in operation.
As this design does not feature any integrated sealing washers, designers seal the interior of the bearing housing via the housing itself. External shaft seals or labyrinth seals prevent dust or moisture from entering and keep the lubricant within the raceways.
