The FAG 7317 -B-XL-TVP-UA angular contact ball bearing (85x180x41 mm) accommodates high unilateral axial loads as well as radial forces in mechanical engineering.
The FAG 7317 -B-XL-TVP-UA from FAG is a single-row rolling bearing made from standard bearing steel (100Cr6) with a bore of 85 mm, an outer diameter of 180 mm and a width of 41 mm. Thanks to its contact angle of 40 degrees, this open radial ball bearing dissipates considerable axial forces in one direction. The integrated polyamide cage ensures smooth running within a temperature range of -20 to +120 degrees. The design is suitable for shaft guides operating under combined loads.
This angular contact ball bearing is used wherever combined loads consisting of radial forces and high unilateral axial forces act on the shaft. The design is specifically intended for shaft mountings with axial guidance in one direction. As the rows of balls transmit the forces at a 40-degree angle, the component performs axial guidance tasks with precision. In combination with a second bearing mounted in the opposite direction, alternating axial loads can also be supported in rigid shaft mountings.
The designation ‘UA’ identifies this single-row FAG bearing as a universal design for installation in pairs. If you fit two bearings of this design in an O or X arrangement, a deliberately small amount of axial clearance is automatically created within the bearing pair, without the need to fit spacer rings. This considerably simplifies assembly when the bearings are arranged in pairs. When designing the arrangement, please also note that this open bearing must have an external seal and be lubricated within the specified temperature range of -20 to +120 degrees.
A single-row roller bearing with an inner diameter of 85 mm, an outer diameter of 180 mm and a width of 41 mm. It has a 40-degree contact angle for withstanding unilateral axial and radial forces. Manufactured from 100Cr6 roller bearing steel, the bearing features a lightweight polyamide cage and is suitable for operating temperatures ranging from –20 to +120 degrees.
The contact angle describes the angle at which the force is transmitted between the inner and outer rings via the balls. An angle of 40 degrees enables the angular contact ball bearing to accommodate particularly high axial forces in one direction. This makes this rolling bearing suitable for the axial fixation and guidance of heavily loaded shafts in mechanical engineering.
The manufacturer FAG uses the suffix ‘UA’ to designate bearings that are matched for installation in pairs. When arranged in an O or X configuration, a defined, small amount of axial clearance is automatically established without the need for shims. This speeds up installation in the workshop and promotes balanced load distribution within the bearing set.
The bearing is designed for ambient temperatures ranging from -20 to +120 degrees. This temperature range is largely determined by the dimensionally stable polyamide cage and the lubricant. To ensure trouble-free operation, a lubricant must be selected that retains its lubricating properties within these limits.
This model does not come with integrated sealing washers as standard. This means you can choose the lubricant – such as grease or oil – that best suits your design. However, you must ensure that the housing or shaft passages are fitted with external seals to keep out contaminants and prevent lubricant loss.
The bearing is manufactured to the standard tolerance P0 or PN, which corresponds to ABEC Class 1 in the US. This standard precision provides dimensional and running characteristics that comply with standards for industrial applications, without the need for special fits on the shaft or housing.
