The FAG 7316 -B-XL-TVP angular contact ball bearing accurately handles combined loads with a 40-degree contact angle, with dimensions of 80 x 170 x 39 mm.
The single-row angular contact ball bearing 7316 -B-XL-TVP accommodates radial loads as well as single-direction axial loads. Manufactured from standard rolling-element bearing steel 100Cr6, this open rolling bearing is characterised by a standard radial clearance and tolerance class P0/PN or ABEC 1. This FAG design has a bore of 80 mm, an outer diameter of 170 mm and a width of 39 mm. It is primarily used in lubricated housings.
Single-row angular contact ball bearings of this size transmit forces at an angle to the radial plane and are suitable for bearing arrangements subject to combined loads. As a single bearing can only accommodate axial forces in one direction, it is often fitted in a staggered arrangement with a second angular contact ball bearing. Typical applications include bearing arrangements in which, in addition to radial forces, defined axial forces act on the shaft. Thanks to the open design, the lubricant from the surrounding structure flows freely over the raceways.
The suffix ‘B’ denotes a contact angle of 40 degrees, meaning the bearing is designed for high axial loads. The abbreviation ‘TVP’ stands for a polyamide cage. This material ensures smooth guidance of the rolling elements and reduces the bearing’s own weight. When designing, take into account the permissible temperature range of -20 to +120 degrees to maintain the mechanical strength of the plastic cage. Furthermore, the open design requires an external housing seal to prevent the ingress of dirt.
The bearing has an inside diameter of 80 mm, an outside diameter of 170 mm and a total width of 39 mm. The dimensions correspond to type 7316. Thanks to the cylindrical outer ring without a groove or flange, the outer ring can be easily fitted into suitable housing bores.
The designation ‘TVP’ refers to a polyamide cage used to guide the rolling elements. This material is characterised by low inertial forces and good vibration damping. The cage is designed for a temperature range between –20 and +120 degrees and is suitable for many common industrial applications.
The 40-degree contact angle directs the forces acting on the balls diagonally from one bearing ring to the other. Thanks to this steep angle, the bearing can accommodate particularly high axial forces in one direction. When subjected to simultaneous radial loading, this geometry contributes to stable shaft guidance, provided that a suitable axial counter-support is in place.
This angular contact ball bearing is supplied ex-works without any integrated seals or cover plates. It is designed for installation in enclosed housings, where external shaft seals or labyrinth seals protect the bearing seat from contamination. The open design also allows for a continuous supply of grease or lubricating oil directly via the machine’s lubrication system.
Tolerance class P0 or PN (corresponding to ABEC 1) defines the standard dimensional and running accuracy for industrial roller bearings. It specifies that mating dimensions, axial run-out and radial run-out must fall within the usual industrial tolerances. For standard applications in mechanical and plant engineering, this level of precision is entirely sufficient to ensure smooth and long-lasting operation.
The permissible operating temperature range is between -20 and +120 degrees. The upper limit is largely determined by the polyamide cage fitted, as its material properties may deteriorate at temperatures above 120 degrees. When selecting a lubricant, ensure that the oil or grease used also reliably covers this temperature range.
