The single-row FAG angular contact ball bearing 7312 -B-XL-TVP-UA, measuring 60x130x31 mm, is designed for combined radial and axial loads.
The FAG 7312 -B-XL-TVP-UA angular contact ball bearing is a single-row rolling bearing specifically designed for combined loads. Thanks to its 40-degree contact angle, this design withstands high axial forces in one direction. Manufactured from standard rolling-element bearing steel (100Cr6), this version features a lightweight polyamide cage and standard radial clearance. As an open component without integrated seals, the bearing allows for direct lubricant supply via the surrounding housing.
This rolling bearing is used in bearing arrangements where axial forces acting in one direction and radial loads act simultaneously on the shaft. As single-row angular contact ball bearings can only accommodate axial forces in one direction, the component is usually paired with a second bearing. The cylindrical outer ring, which has no groove and no flange, allows for installation in smooth housing bores. At the same time, the polyamide cage contributes to low-vibration operation of the rolling elements.
The suffix ‘UA’ denotes a universal bearing for installation in pairs. When two of these angular contact ball bearings are mounted in an O or X arrangement, the bearing pair is supplied by the manufacturer with a small amount of axial clearance. This eliminates the need for shims or manual adjustment of the bearing clearance during assembly. When operating the bearing assembly, the specified temperature range of -20 to +120 degrees must be observed to avoid thermal overload of the material and the polyamide cage.
The dimensions are 60 mm internal diameter, 130 mm external diameter and 31 mm width. The bearing has a cylindrical outer ring without a flange or circumferential groove and complies with the standard tolerance class P0 or ABEC 1.
The contact angle describes the force transmission between rolling elements and raceways at an angle to the radial plane. The suffix ‘B’ denotes a nominal contact angle of 40 degrees. This enables the design to accommodate high axial forces in one direction, exceeding the load-carrying capacity of radial deep-groove ball bearings of the same size.
The abbreviation TVP denotes a solid polyamide cage. This material is characterised by its low weight and elastic running properties. For bearings with this cage, the permissible temperature range is specified as -20 to +120 degrees.
Universal bearings marked ‘UA’ are designed to be fitted in sets. When two bearings are fitted in an O or X configuration, this immediately results in minimal axial clearance without the need for additional shims. This simplifies assembly and helps to prevent stress concentrations within the bearing set.
As the bearing is of an open design, it is not pre-lubricated by the manufacturer. Lubrication is provided via the surrounding housing using a suitable rolling-bearing grease or lubricating oil. To protect the bearing from contamination, seals must be fitted at the housing location by the customer.
