The FAG 7311 -B-XL-TVP-UA angular contact ball bearing, with a 55 mm bore and a 40-degree contact angle, can accommodate high combined loads.
The single-row angular contact ball bearing 7311 -B-XL-TVP-UA from FAG is designed to provide precise guidance for rotating shafts whilst withstanding radial and unilateral axial forces. Manufactured from hardened standard roller bearing steel (100Cr6), it complies with tolerance class P0/PN or ABEC 1. With dimensions of 55 mm inner diameter, 120 mm outer diameter and 29 mm width, this open design is suitable for direct installation in lubricated housing assemblies.
This rolling bearing is used where axial forces in one direction combine with radial loads. Typical applications include bearings subjected to axial thrust and combined loads. Thanks to the nominal contact angle of 40 degrees, the design effectively supports axial forces. As the bearing is of an open design, lubrication is supplied directly via oil or grease lubrication from the housing.
The UA designation identifies this rolling bearing as a universal design for installation in pairs. When two bearings are mounted in pairs in an O or X arrangement, a small, defined axial clearance is achieved without the need for additional fitting. The integrated polyamide cage (TVP) guides the rolling elements with low friction within the permissible temperature range of -20 to +120 degrees. Furthermore, the cage’s low weight promotes smooth rotational behaviour even under fluctuating rotational movements.
The component has a bore of 55 mm, an external diameter of 120 mm and a width of 29 mm. The outer ring has a cylindrical surface without a flange or groove. Thanks to these key dimensions, this version fits into standardised housing seats for the 7311 series.
The suffix combination UA denotes universal compatibility. When mounted in an O or X configuration, two bearings arranged in a mirror image have minimal axial clearance. This enables designers and maintenance engineers to align bearing sets directly on the shaft without the need for complex shims.
The 40-degree contact angle, designated by the letter B, transfers axial loads obliquely to the radial plane via the raceways. Compared with bearings with a smaller angle, this geometry accommodates greater axial forces in one direction. A second, oppositely mounted bearing is required for the opposite direction.
The permissible operating range is between -20 and +120 degrees. This range is largely determined by the polyamide cage (TVP). When selecting the lubricant, the operating temperature and viscosity must be matched in order to maintain a load-bearing lubricating film within this range.
This roller bearing is designed as an open bearing and has no integrated seals or cover plates. It must be protected against contamination on site by means of the housing design, for example using radial shaft seals or labyrinth seals. The open design allows for the unimpeded circulation of housing oil or grease.
FAG manufactures the cage with the designation TVP from polyamide. This material is characterised by its low density, good sliding properties and elastic damping. Compared with solid cages, the polyamide cage reduces the moment of inertia of the rotating rolling element assembly and promotes low-vibration operation.
