FAG single-row angular contact ball bearing 7309 -B-XL-TVP-UA with a 45 mm bore, 40° contact angle and a polyamide cage for high unilateral axial loads.
The 7309 -B-XL-TVP-UA angular contact ball bearing from FAG is a single-row rolling bearing made from standard bearing steel (100Cr6) with a bore of 45 mm, an outer diameter of 100 mm and a width of 25 mm. The design features raceways set at an angle to one another with a contact angle of 40 degrees. This enables the unit to accommodate radial forces as well as single-sided axial forces. Manufactured to tolerance class P0 (ABEC 1) and with standard radial clearance, this open bearing provides a dimensionally accurate basis for industrial bearing arrangements.
Design engineers use this design when combined forces from the radial and single-sided axial directions need to be supported. The 40-degree contact angle enables the bearing to accommodate axial forces in a defined load direction. Typical applications include shaft mountings with a single-sided guiding load. As no sealing washers are fitted, the component is suitable for bearing arrangements where lubrication is supplied via an external system. The permissible temperature range is from –20 to +120 degrees Celsius.
The suffix ‘UA’ denotes a universally combinable bearing design. If the bearings are fitted in pairs in an O or X arrangement, this results in a defined, low axial clearance within the bearing set. This simplifies assembly, as the bearing clearance does not need to be adjusted manually using shims. The integrated polyamide cage guides the rolling elements and reduces the weight of the rotating parts. When designing the housing, care must be taken to ensure external sealing to prevent the ingress of contaminants.
This single-row bearing from the 7309 series has a contact angle of 40 degrees, a polyamide cage and standard radial clearance. Thanks to its UA specification, it is designed for universal pairing in O or X configurations with low axial clearance.
The component has an internal diameter of 45 mm, an external diameter of 100 mm and a width of 25 mm. The outer ring is cylindrical in design and has neither a flange nor a ring groove, which allows for flush mounting in standard housing bores.
The contact angle describes the line of force transmission between the inner ring, the balls and the outer ring relative to the radial plane. An angle of 40 degrees increases the axial load-carrying capacity in one load direction compared with bearings with smaller contact angles; however, it reduces the pure radial load-carrying capacity.
UA stands for universally mountable single bearings, which are designed for installation in sets. When two bearings are mounted in an O or X configuration, a defined, small amount of axial play is achieved through mutual preload without the need for additional spacer rings.
The cage, designated TVP, is made of polyamide. This material is characterised by its shock-absorbing properties and low weight, and is designed for operating temperatures ranging from -20 to +120 degrees Celsius.
Open roller bearings do not come fitted with seals or cover plates as standard. They are lubricated directly with oil or grease from the housing environment, which simplifies maintenance within the assembly and minimises friction-related losses.
