The SKF 7309 BEP angular contact ball bearing, with dimensions of 45 × 100 × 25 mm and a contact angle of 40 degrees, offers high axial load-carrying capacity in one direction.
The 7309 BEP angular contact ball bearing is a single-row radial rolling bearing made from standard bearing steel (100Cr6). Thanks to the defined arrangement of the raceways, this design can accommodate both radial loads and high axial loads in one direction. The SKF bearing has a bore of 45 mm, an outer diameter of 100 mm and a width of 25 mm. As an open component without integrated seals, it can be flexibly integrated into existing lubrication systems.
This rolling bearing is used for combined loads with a significant axial component in one direction. As a single angular contact ball bearing can only accommodate axial forces from one side, it is usually paired with a second bearing during operation. This design is suitable for operating temperatures ranging from -20 to +120 degrees and, thanks to its 40-degree contact angle, provides a rigid mounting for rotating machine components.
The designator ‘P’ in the suffix ‘BEP’ indicates a polyamide cage, which keeps the rolling elements at a uniform distance apart. This material reduces the bearing’s own weight and promotes smooth running. When designing the application, ensure that the permissible temperature range of -20 to +120 degrees is observed to avoid thermal overload of the cage material. As this is an open bearing, external lubrication with a suitable lubricant supports reliable operation.
With an internal diameter of 45 mm, an external diameter of 100 mm and a width of 25 mm, the bearing has standardised main dimensions. Before fitting, check that the bearing seats on your shaft and housing are manufactured to accommodate this nominal size.
The contact angle describes the inclination of the line of action between the points of contact of the ball and the raceways relative to the radial plane. An angle of 40 degrees gives the angular contact ball bearing a high axial load-carrying capacity in one direction. At the same time, it can accommodate radial loads, provided that a sufficient minimum axial load is applied.
This is an open bearing without any built-in cover plates or sealing washers. The bearing is not filled with grease at the factory for continuous use. To operate it, you must therefore incorporate the rolling bearing into a lubrication system using oil or grease and seal the bearing housing against dirt via the casing.
The P0 tolerance class, also known as standard tolerance PN or ABEC 1, covers standard requirements in general mechanical and plant engineering. Dimensional and geometric accuracies are within the usual range for industrial applications without any specific requirements for increased concentricity.
The permissible operating temperature range is between -20 and +120 degrees. This range is primarily limited by the material of the polyamide cage and the thermal stability of the bearing rings made from 100Cr6 rolling bearing steel. Select lubricants that retain their lubricating properties within this temperature range.
A single single-row angular contact ball bearing can only accommodate axial forces from one direction. In practice, therefore, designers usually fit two bearings opposite each other in an O or X arrangement. This creates a bearing arrangement that accommodates axial forces in both directions and allows for a defined setting of the operating clearance or preload.
