The FAG 7307 -B-XL-TVP single-row angular contact ball bearing, with a 35 mm bore and a 40-degree contact angle, can accommodate high unilateral axial and radial forces.
This single-row angular contact ball bearing 7307 -B-XL-TVP from FAG Rolling Bearings is made from standard rolling bearing steel (100Cr6) and features an open design without integrated seals. Thanks to the standard radial clearance and the standard tolerance according to P0/PN, the component can be mounted in standardised shaft and housing fits. The integrated polyamide cage guides the rolling elements and contributes to the low weight of the rotating components during operation.
Design engineers opt for this design when bearing arrangements need to support both radial forces and significant axial forces in one direction simultaneously. Thanks to the raceways, which are offset at an angle to one another, the bearing effectively dissipates axial loads via the rolling element ring. As single-row angular contact ball bearings, by their design, can only accommodate axial forces from one side, they are usually fitted in pairs, with one bearing positioned opposite the other. Typical applications include bearing arrangements subject to combined loads and single-sided axial guidance.
The designation letter ‘B’ indicates a contact angle of 40 degrees, which specifically increases the axial load capacity compared with versions featuring a smaller angle. The TVP solid cage made of polyamide is characterised by its elastic properties and low-noise rolling element guidance. As this roller bearing is of an open design, the bearing location requires an external lubricant as well as a housing seal concept to keep out contaminants. The material combination is designed for a temperature range of -20 to +120 degrees.
This roller bearing has an inner diameter of 35 mm, an outer diameter of 80 mm and a total width of 21 mm. The outer ring has no flange or circumferential groove. It is manufactured to the standard tolerance class P0 or ABEC 1.
The contact angle describes the inclination of the line connecting the points of contact between the ball and the raceways relative to the radial plane. An angle of 40 degrees shifts the force transmission more towards the axial direction. As a result, the bearing can withstand high axial forces in one direction.
The suffix ‘TVP’ denotes a solid polyamide cage which guides the balls and keeps them spaced apart. This material reduces the bearing’s weight, dampens running noise and is resistant to typical lubricating greases and mineral oils within the permissible operating temperature range.
As this model is supplied without integrated grinding or cover discs, the bearing housing requires lubrication with oil or grease from the housing. As the lubricant reaches the raceways unimpeded, the surrounding structure should be sealed with external shaft seals.
The 7307 -B-XL-TVP angular contact ball bearing is designed for ambient temperatures between -20 and +120 degrees. The main factor determining the upper limit, apart from the rolling-bearing steel, is the polyamide cage, which can lose strength at temperatures above 120 degrees.
A single single-row angular contact ball bearing can only support axial forces in one direction. If a shaft is subjected to axial loads in both directions, technicians usually fit two bearings facing each other in an O or X configuration to ensure stable axial support.
