The FAG 7219 -B-MP angular contact ball bearing, with a 95 mm bore and a 40-degree contact angle, can accommodate high axial and radial forces on one side.
The FAG 7219 -B-MP angular contact ball bearing is a single-row rolling bearing made from standard bearing steel (100Cr6) with main dimensions of 95 x 170 x 32 mm. This design is characterised by a contact angle of 40 degrees and a robust brass cage. As an open bearing, it operates within a temperature range of -20 to +150 degrees Celsius. It is manufactured to tolerance class P0/PN or ABEC 1 with standard radial clearance.
Single-row angular contact ball bearings of this design are suitable for bearing arrangements where combined loads with a predominant axial component act in one direction. Thanks to the 40-degree contact angle, the component effectively transfers axial forces from one raceway to the other. Typical applications are found in mechanical engineering and fixture manufacturing, where precise shaft guidance is required. As it can only be axially loaded on one side, designers usually pair the bearing with a second rolling bearing.
The integrated brass cage guides the rolling elements precisely and withstands demanding thermal and mechanical stresses up to +150 degrees Celsius. As the bearing has an open design, the lubricant reaches the raceways unimpeded, allowing direct integration into existing oil or grease circulation systems. Designers must protect the bearing location on site against dirt and moisture. The standard radial bearing clearance provides a balanced operating clearance for many industrial applications.
With an internal diameter of 95 mm, an external diameter of 170 mm and a width of 32 mm, the bearing complies with the standardised dimensions of the 7219 series. The outer ring is cylindrical in design and has neither a flange nor a ring groove, which facilitates a precise fit when installed in smooth housing bores.
A contact angle of 40 degrees determines how the force is transmitted between the inner and outer rings via the balls. This angle, denoted by the letter B, is designed to specifically accommodate high axial forces in one direction, compared with bearings with a smaller angle.
The suffix ‘MP’ refers to a brass cage that guides the rolling elements. Brass cages offer high mechanical strength and are suitable for applications involving demanding thermal or dynamic operating conditions, as well as those subject to vibrations.
The permissible operating range is from -20 to +150 degrees Celsius. The standard rolling-bearing steel 100Cr6 and the brass cage are designed for this temperature range. When selecting the lubricant, care must be taken to ensure that the grease or lubricating oil is approved for the intended operating temperature.
Without integrated sealing washers, the open design allows for direct lubrication via existing oil or grease circuits. The lubricant can circulate freely and dissipate frictional heat, whilst external housing seals protect the rolling bearing from dirt and moisture.
As a single-row angular contact ball bearing is designed to accommodate axial forces in only one direction, in practice it is usually fitted in pairs or opposite a mating bearing. By adjusting the position of the rings relative to one another, the desired operating clearance or preload can be achieved once the bearing is installed.
