The FAG 7217 -B-XL-TVP-UA angular contact ball bearing, with a bore diameter of 85 mm and a 40-degree contact angle, accommodates high radial and single-direction axial loads.
The 7217 -B-XL-TVP-UA angular contact ball bearing from FAG Rolling Bearings is designed as a single-row radial rolling bearing for combined loads. Thanks to its dimensions – an 85 mm inner diameter, 150 mm outer diameter and 28 mm width – this open bearing is suitable for demanding industrial applications. It is manufactured from standard 100Cr6 rolling-element bearing steel, which gives the raceways high dimensional stability. As no seals are integrated, the lubricant reaches the rolling elements and raceways unimpeded. The polyamide cage used ensures smooth running of the rolling elements.
This roller bearing is particularly suitable for bearing arrangements where, in addition to radial forces, significant axial loads act in one direction. Thanks to the contact angle of 40 degrees, the design effectively supports axial forces. Such conditions typically arise when guiding rotating shafts subject to axial loads acting in one direction. The bearing covers a temperature range from –20 to +120 degrees and complies with the specifications of the standard tolerance class P0/PN.
The UA designation indicates a universal design for installation in pairs. When two of these angular contact ball bearings are mounted in an O or X arrangement, the bearing pair has minimal axial play. This simplifies installation, as it eliminates the need for time-consuming manual adjustment. When designing the assembly, ensure that the open bearing is protected against the ingress of dirt and connected to a suitable lubrication system. The polyamide cage retains its properties within the specified temperature range.
The bearing has a bore of 85 mm, an outer diameter of 150 mm and a width of 28 mm. These key dimensions enable it to be fitted precisely onto suitable shafts and into housings without a flange or groove on the outer ring.
The contact angle determines the direction of force transmission between the rings and the rolling elements. At an angle of 40 degrees, the bearing withstands particularly high axial forces in one direction. At the same time, the design transfers radial loads to the surrounding housing.
Bearings with the suffix ‘UA’ are designed for installation in pairs. When two bearings are arranged in an O or X configuration, a defined, small amount of axial clearance is established. You fit the bearings directly, without shims, to achieve a balanced load distribution within the bearing set.
The polyamide cage ensures low-friction ball movement and is characterised by its light weight and quiet operation. The material absorbs shocks during operation and is designed for a temperature range of -20 to +120 degrees.
As the bearing has no sealing washers, lubrication must be supplied via the housing. The open design allows the use of grease or lubricating oil and enables the lubricant to flow unimpeded directly to the working surfaces of the inner ring, outer ring and rolling elements.
This model is manufactured to tolerance class P0, also known as standard tolerance (PN) or ABEC 1. This standard level of accuracy meets the requirements of general mechanical engineering and specifies defined limit dimensions for bores, external diameters and concentricity.
