The FAG 7216 -B-XL-TVP-UA angular contact ball bearing, with an 80 mm bore and a 40-degree contact angle, offers a robust solution for combined radial and axial forces.
This single-row angular contact ball bearing 7216 -B-XL-TVP-UA, made from standard roller bearing steel (100Cr6), accommodates radial loads as well as axial forces in one direction. The outer ring has an outer diameter of 140 mm and a width of 26 mm, and has no flange or groove. Manufactured to tolerance class P0/PN (ABEC 1), the component complies with industrial dimensional accuracy standards.
Design engineers primarily use this angular contact ball bearing where radial loads and single-sided axial forces occur simultaneously. Typical applications are found in mechanical engineering for shaft bearings subjected to combined loads. As this is an open bearing without integrated sealing washers, the bearing arrangement integrates the component directly into the structure’s lubrication circuit. This allows lubricating oil or grease to circulate unhindered around the rolling elements.
The suffix ‘UA’ denotes a universal bearing for installation in sets. If two bearings of this design are fitted in pairs in an O or X arrangement, a small amount of axial clearance is created within the bearing set. The increased contact angle of 40 degrees (designation B) enhances the bearing’s ability to support axial loads compared with versions with a smaller angle. In addition, the polyamide cage (TVP) guides the rolling elements within a temperature range of -20 to +120 degrees.
With a bore of 80 mm for the shaft seat, an outside diameter of 140 mm and a width of 26 mm, this roller bearing requires a specific installation space. These dimensions enable the targeted design of suitable shaft seats and housing bores in mechanical engineering.
At a contact angle of 40 degrees, the line of force transmission between the raceway and the ball runs at an angle to the radial plane. This angle allows the bearing to accommodate high axial forces. The bearing reliably supports unilateral axial loads whilst simultaneously withstanding radial loads during operation.
Universal bearings marked ‘UA’ have specially designed end faces. When two bearings are fitted in pairs in an O or X configuration, a small amount of axial clearance is automatically established. This simplifies installation without the need for individual shims.
The polyamide cage, identified by the suffix TVP, guides the rolling elements quietly and helps to minimise friction. The cage material is designed for use in a temperature range of between -20 and +120 degrees and is suitable for fluctuating loads.
As this open design does not feature integrated sealing washers, it requires an external lubricant supply via the machine housing. Depending on requirements, lubricating oils or roller bearing greases are used, which can be easily replaced or topped up during maintenance work.
Manufactured to tolerance class P0 (standard tolerance PN or ABEC 1), this bearing complies with the standardised dimensional and running tolerances for industrial applications. This version is designed to fit precisely onto standard shafts and into bores without requiring a special fit.
