The SKF 7213 BEP angular contact ball bearing, measuring 65x120x23 mm, accommodates combined loads with a 40-degree contact angle.
The single-row angular contact ball bearing 7213 BEP is designed for applications where radial forces occur in conjunction with axial loads acting in one direction. Thanks to its 40-degree contact angle, this rolling bearing specifically supports axial forces in one direction. Manufactured from standard rolling-bearing steel (100Cr6), the open bearing offers precise running characteristics in tolerance class P0/PN or ABEC 1. The integrated polyamide cage reliably guides the rolling elements at operating temperatures ranging from –20 to +120 degrees Celsius.
The design of this rolling bearing is suitable for mounting positions where high radial forces act in conjunction with defined axial forces. As single-row angular contact ball bearings can only accommodate axial loads in one direction, they are usually installed in pairs in combination with a second bearing during operation. This paired arrangement serves to guide rotating shaft systems on both sides. The open design without sealing washers allows for flexible lubrication with lubricating oil or grease, tailored to the respective environmental conditions.
The 40-degree contact angle gives this design a high axial load-carrying capacity compared with bearings with a smaller angle. In addition, the lightweight polyamide cage dampens vibrations and reduces friction losses during rotation. When designing the application, the permissible temperature range of –20 to +120 degrees and the standard radial clearance must be taken into account. As the bearing is unsealed, an external housing seal helps to protect the lubricant from contamination.
With an internal diameter of 65 mm, an external diameter of 120 mm and a width of 23 mm, the component has standardised dimensions. The outer ring is cylindrical in design and has neither a flange nor a groove. This means that the design fits into standardised bearing housings for radial and axial loads.
The contact angle determines the direction in which force is transmitted from the bearing rings to the rolling elements. At an angle of 40 degrees, the bearing can withstand high axial forces in one direction. Compared with smaller contact angles, this value increases the axial load-carrying capacity, making the component suitable for axial guidance applications.
The open design, which does not feature integrated sealing washers, allows lubricant to be supplied via the surrounding housing system, for example in the case of circulating oil lubrication or targeted grease relubrication. To protect the component from particles and moisture, the housing design provides the necessary seal against the outside environment.
The polyamide cage is characterised by a dimensionally stable and low-friction rolling element guide. The low weight of the plastic reduces inertial forces when the rotational speed changes. At the same time, the material contributes to smooth and even running. The material is designed for a temperature range of -20 to +120 degrees Celsius.
Due to their design, single-row angular contact ball bearings can only accommodate axial forces in one direction. In practice, they are therefore usually mounted in a pair, with one bearing facing the other. This arrangement supports shafts in both directions and allows the desired operating clearance or a defined preload to be set.
Manufactured to tolerance class P0/PN (comparable to ABEC 1), the component has a standard radial bearing clearance. These values represent the industry standard for general mechanical engineering applications. They ensure dimensionally accurate bearing seats and non-critical running behaviour with standard fit designs on shafts and housings.
