The FAG 7211 -B-XL-TVP angular contact ball bearing, with a 55 mm bore and an outer diameter of 100 mm, accommodates combined radial and single-direction axial loads.
This single-row angular contact ball bearing 7211 -B-XL-TVP from FAG is suitable for bearing arrangements where radial forces occur simultaneously with axial loads in one direction. Thanks to the offset raceways in the inner and outer rings, the bearing transmits the operating forces at an angle to the radial plane. Manufactured from standard rolling bearing steel (100Cr6), this open rolling bearing is characterised by its dimensional stability and load-carrying capacity. With a width of 21 mm, it fits into standardised housing seats of standard tolerance class P0/PN or ABEC 1.
Design engineers prefer to use this component in bearing arrangements subject to combined loads. As a single-row angular contact ball bearing can only accommodate axial forces from one direction, it is often mounted in conjunction with a second bearing. Typical configurations include the O or X arrangement, which allow for shaft guidance with defined preload or controlled axial play. The design, which has no flange or circumferential groove on the outer ring, enables straightforward axial fixation within the bearing housing.
The nominal contact angle of 40 degrees gives the bearing a considerable axial load-carrying capacity whilst maintaining stable radial guidance. In the variant with the suffix TVP, a lightweight polyamide cage guides the rolling elements between the raceways. This material dampens running noise and reduces friction during operation. The open bearing has no integrated sealing washers, which is why lubrication is provided via the machine’s oil or grease circuit. The permissible operating temperature range is from –20 to +120 degrees Celsius.
With an internal diameter of 55 mm, an external diameter of 100 mm and a width of 21 mm, the bearing complies with the dimensions of the metric 7211 series and fits into standard housings.
The contact angle describes the inclination of the line connecting the points of contact between the ball and the raceways relative to the radial plane. An angle of 40 degrees facilitates the absorption of high axial forces in one direction whilst a radial load is also acting.
The designation TVP indicates a solid polyamide cage. It is characterised by its low weight, elastic properties and smooth running. During operation, this cage can withstand temperatures ranging from -20 to +120 degrees.
The open design, without sealing or cover plates, allows for a direct supply of lubricant via an external lubrication system, such as an oil bath or centralised lubrication. The surrounding machine components must seal the bearing housing to prevent the ingress of dirt and moisture.
Single-row designs usually require a second, mirror-image-mounted counter-bearing to guide the shaft. Depending on the requirements for rigidity and tilting moments, users choose an O-configuration, an X-configuration or, for loads acting in the same direction, a tandem configuration.
This roller bearing is manufactured to the standard tolerance class P0 (also referred to as PN or ABEC 1). This grade meets the usual industrial requirements for dimensional and concentricity accuracy.
