The FAG 7210 -B-MP angular contact ball bearing combines a 50 mm bore, a 40-degree contact angle and a brass cage for demanding single-sided axial loads.
The 7210 -B-MP angular contact ball bearing is a single-row rolling bearing made from standard bearing steel (100Cr6) with dimensions of 50 × 90 × 20 mm. As an open bearing, this FAG design accommodates radial forces as well as unidirectional axial forces. Force transmission takes place via angularly offset raceways in bearing arrangements subject to combined loads, where axial forces act on the shaft. The bearing is manufactured to tolerance class P0/PN or ABEC 1.
This single-row rolling bearing is designed for bearing arrangements subject to combined loads, in which axial forces are specifically absorbed in one direction. Thanks to its 40-degree contact angle, the bearing effectively supports axial loads. As this is an open bearing without integrated seals, lubrication is provided by the surrounding structure, for example via oil or grease lubrication.
The version with the suffix MP features a brass cage which guides the rolling elements. Brass is a material that exhibits high strength under vibration or shock loads. In conjunction with the temperature range of –20 to +150 degrees, the bearing is designed for operating environments subject to thermal stress. Attention must be paid to the standard radial clearance and to the need to align the bearing axially using a suitable mating bearing when fitted as a single unit.
With a bore of 50 mm, an outside diameter of 90 mm and a width of 20 mm, the bearing complies with standardised dimensions. The outer ring is designed without a flange or groove. These dimensions allow for precise installation on suitable shaft seats and in bearing housings.
The letter B denotes the contact angle of 40 degrees, which defines the angle between the radial plane and the line of action of the transmitted loads. Thanks to this angle, the angular contact ball bearing can accommodate high axial forces in one direction and effectively support combined loads.
The brass cage guides the rolling elements during operation and withstands mechanical stresses. Compared with standard designs, brass offers greater stability under vibration and at elevated operating temperatures. Furthermore, the material is characterised by favourable sliding properties compared with balls made from rolling bearing steel (100Cr6).
Designed without an integrated seal, this open bearing allows for direct lubricant replacement via the machine system. This promotes the circulation of oil or grease and aids heat dissipation. An external seal is required at the bearing location to protect against dirt particles and moisture.
The permissible temperature range is from -20 to +150 degrees. Both the standard roller bearing steel (100Cr6) and the brass cage are designed for this temperature range. A prerequisite for reliable operation is a lubricant whose specification covers this operating range.
In its standard version, this single-row bearing has a standard radial clearance. As single-row angular contact ball bearings can only accommodate axial forces in one direction, they are usually fitted in combination with a second bearing, arranged in a mirror-image configuration, to provide mutual axial guidance.
