The FAG 7203 -B-XL-TVP-UA angular contact ball bearing measures 17 × 40 × 12 mm and, thanks to its 40-degree contact angle, can accommodate combined radial and single-direction axial loads.
The 7203 -B-XL-TVP-UA is a single-row rolling bearing made from standard bearing steel (100Cr6) with a bore of 17 mm, an outer diameter of 40 mm and a width of 12 mm. Thanks to its contact angle of 40 degrees, this component is particularly suitable for combined forces where, in addition to radial forces, significant axial forces act in one direction. The open-type design allows for lubrication via the surrounding system, whilst the integrated polyamide cage ensures smooth guidance of the rolling elements.
This single-row bearing is used wherever designs need to accommodate high axial forces in one direction as well as radial loads simultaneously. Manufactured to tolerance class P0/PN (ABEC 1), it is suitable for precision-guided shaft bearings in general mechanical engineering. The bearing is designed for a temperature range of -20 to +120 degrees.
The suffix ‘UA’ denotes a universal bearing suitable for installation in pairs. If you arrange two of these angular contact ball bearings in an O or X configuration, the bearing pair will have a deliberately low axial clearance without the need for re-grinding the rings. As a result, the pair supports axial forces in both directions. Check the environmental seal before assembly, as the open bearing has no inherent protection against contamination.
With an internal diameter of 17 mm, an external diameter of 40 mm and a width of 12 mm, the bearing complies with the standardised main dimensions of the 7203 series. The outer ring is designed without a flange or groove, which allows for direct mounting in cylindrical housing bores.
Thanks to its 40-degree contact angle (designation letter B), this single-row bearing can accommodate high axial forces in one direction. At the same time, the design transmits radial forces between the inner and outer rings via the angular raceways.
The TVP cage is made of polyamide and guides the rolling elements with low friction. The material is characterised by its low weight and dampens operating noise during operation. It is designed for a temperature range of -20 to +120 degrees and promotes even lubricant distribution.
The bearing is designed for operating temperatures ranging from -20 to +120 degrees. This range is determined by the 100Cr6 material and the polyamide cage. When selecting the lubricant, you should ensure that the grease or oil retains the required lubricating effect within this temperature range.
Open angular contact ball bearings do not have integrated cover plates or sealing discs. This design minimises frictional resistance, as there are no sealing lips to cause friction. It also allows for flexible integration into centralised lubrication systems, but requires a clean housing design with external sealing.
The abbreviation ‘UA’ indicates that the component is a universally adaptable bearing designed for installation in pairs. If two bearings are fitted in an O or X configuration, a small amount of axial clearance is automatically achieved. This largely eliminates the need for time-consuming fitting using spacer rings.
