The 3306 ATN9 double-row angular contact ball bearing, measuring 30 × 72 × 30.2 mm, accommodates combined radial and axial loads in both directions.
The 3306 ATN9 angular contact ball bearing is a double-row rolling bearing made from standard bearing steel (100Cr6) by SKF. The bearing has a bore of 30 mm, an outer diameter of 72 mm and a width of 30.2 mm. Thanks to the double-row arrangement of the rolling elements, the design supports radial forces whilst simultaneously withstanding axial forces from both directions. As part of the Explorer series, this unit has a contact angle of 30 degrees and an outer ring without a flange or groove.
This double-row angular contact ball bearing is suitable for mounting positions where, in addition to high radial forces, axial forces acting in both directions are present. Typical applications include compact shaft mountings that require rigid guidance. As the double-row design functions similarly to two paired single-row angular contact ball bearings in an O-arrangement, it requires little axial installation space. The design also absorbs tilting moments and prevents shafts from tilting.
The suffix ATN9 denotes a polyamide cage. This material reduces the weight of the rotating components and promotes smooth running. The bearing is designed for a temperature range of -20 to +120 degrees. Due to the open design without sealing washers, lubrication is supplied via the surrounding housing, which also provides protection against ingress of particles.
The roller bearing has an inside diameter of 30 mm, an outside diameter of 72 mm and a width of 30.2 mm. The outer ring has no flange or groove, which means the bearing can be fitted flush with suitable housing bores.
The abbreviation ATN9 refers to the polyamide cage design. This type of cage is characterised by its low weight and vibration-damping properties. It guides the balls smoothly along their raceways within the permissible temperature range of -20 to +120 degrees.
Double-row angular contact ball bearings accommodate radial forces as well as axial loads in both directions. Thanks to the 30-degree contact angle, the rolling elements transmit combined loads directly between the inner and outer rings. In terms of design, such a bearing replaces two single-row bearings, thereby saving axial installation space.
This model is specified with tolerance class P6 for dimensional accuracy and P5 for running accuracy. These classifications denote tighter dimensional and concentricity limits than those of the standard tolerance class, which contributes to precise shaft guidance during operation.
The open bearing design does not come fitted with any sealing or cover rings as standard. Lubricants such as grease or oil must therefore be applied via the surrounding housing. At the same time, the housing seal serves to keep dirt particles away from the rolling elements and raceways.
The rings and balls are made from standard roller bearing steel (100Cr6). This material offers high strength and dimensional stability under mechanical stress. The integrated cage is made of lightweight polyamide, making the bearing suitable for operating temperatures ranging from -20 to +120 degrees.
