The 3222-M double-row angular contact ball bearing, measuring 110 × 200 × 69.8 mm, accommodates radial loads as well as axial loads on both sides.
The 3222-M angular contact ball bearing from FAG is designed as an open, double-row rolling bearing for demanding bearing applications. Thanks to its two rows of balls, this bearing directly supports radial forces as well as axial forces from both directions. Manufactured from standard roller bearing steel 100Cr6, the design provides a solid basis for industrial applications with combined load profiles. The standard version, without a flange or groove on the outer ring, facilitates fitting into conventional housing bores.
Double-row angular contact ball bearings are used when radial forces act on a bearing arrangement together with alternating axial forces. Typical applications are found in mechanical engineering for shaft guides subjected to combined loads. Functionally, the internal geometry corresponds to two single-row angular contact ball bearings arranged opposite each other; however, it requires less axial installation space than two individual bearings. The 3222 -M angular contact ball bearing is suitable for rigid bearing arrangements where defined axial and radial guidance is required.
The suffix ‘-M’ indicates a brass cage that guides the rolling elements precisely. Brass is characterised by good emergency running properties and mechanical strength, which is advantageous in the event of shock loads or vibrations. Furthermore, the bearing operates within a temperature range of -20 to +150 degrees. As this is an open design without an integrated seal, the lubricant and housing seal are selected to suit the operating environment.
The dimensions are 110 mm bore diameter, 200 mm outer diameter and 69.8 mm width. These standardised key dimensions allow for installation in housings and on shafts with P0/PN tolerances.
The suffix -M indicates a brass cage. This cage design offers high mechanical stability against vibrations and is suitable for demanding thermal and dynamic operating conditions.
Double-row angular contact ball bearings are designed to support both radial and axial forces in both directions simultaneously. The angular arrangement of the raceways allows them to withstand combined loads, thereby eliminating the need for complex arrangements comprising several individual bearings.
The permissible operating range is between -20 and +150 degrees. The 100Cr6 roller bearing steel and the brass cage retain their dimensional stability within this range. The lubricant selected should be approved for the relevant operating temperature.
The open design, which does not use sealing washers, allows the bearing to be used in systems with centralised oil or grease lubrication. The lubricant flows freely to the rolling elements and raceways. An external housing seal prevents the ingress of dirt particles.
This roller bearing is manufactured with standard radial clearance (CN). The manufacturing accuracy corresponds to the ‘Normal’ tolerance class (P0 or ABEC 1). This classification covers standardised industrial applications without any specific requirements for increased precision.
