The SKF 3205 ATN9 double-row angular contact ball bearing, with a 25 mm bore and an outer diameter of 52 mm, accommodates combined radial and axial loads.
The 3205 ATN9 angular contact ball bearing is a double-row rolling bearing made from standard bearing steel (100Cr6) in SKF’s Explorer performance class. Thanks to two rows of balls and a contact angle of 30 degrees, this design can simultaneously accommodate high radial forces and axial forces acting in both directions. The bearing has a standard radial clearance and an increased tolerance class with dimensional accuracy P6 and running accuracy P5. As an open design without sealing rings, it is suitable for bearing arrangements with external lubrication.
This double-row angular contact ball bearing is primarily used where installation space in the axial direction is limited and axial forces acting on both sides need to be supported. Functionally, it replaces two single-row bearings mounted back-to-back, with a width of 20.6 mm. The design is suitable for bearing arrangements subjected to combined loads in general mechanical engineering. The open design allows lubricant to reach the raceways directly.
The suffix ATN9 denotes a polyamide cage, which ensures smooth running and low friction. The permissible temperature range is between –20 and +120 degrees Celsius. The combination of dimensional accuracy P6 and finer running accuracy P5 promotes low-vibration concentricity. When fitting the open bearing, care must be taken to ensure a clean installation environment to protect the open raceways from dirt.
The bearing has an inside diameter of 25 mm, an outside diameter of 52 mm and a width of 20.6 mm. It has a cylindrical outer ring without a flange or circumferential groove and is made of standard rolling-element bearing steel (100Cr6).
The suffix ATN9 denotes the polyamide cage design, which guides both rows of balls. This material reduces running noise and is designed for a temperature range of -20 to +120 degrees Celsius.
Thanks to the arrangement of the two rows of balls at a contact angle of 30 degrees, the bearing simultaneously absorbs radial forces and axial forces in both directions. The design also counteracts any tilting moments via the contact surfaces.
The mounting dimensions comply with P6 dimensional accuracy, whilst the concentricity meets the more stringent P5 class. This manufacturing quality results in tighter tolerances than with standard bearings and ensures precise shaft guidance and smooth running.
Yes, as this is an open bearing without sealing washers. Grease or lubricating oil must be applied before commissioning. In addition, the bearing housing requires an external seal to prevent the ingress of contaminants and moisture.
