The SKF 3307 ATN9 angular contact ball bearing, with dimensions of 35 × 80 × 34.9 mm, can accommodate high radial loads as well as axial loads in both directions.
With the 3307 ATN9 angular contact ball bearing, SKF offers a double-row rolling bearing for demanding rotational movements. Functionally, the design corresponds to two single-row angular contact ball bearings, but requires less axial installation space. Manufactured from standard 100Cr6 rolling bearing steel, the bearing has a contact angle of 30 degrees, enabling it to accommodate combined loads. In bearing arrangements subject to combined loads, the component guides rotating shafts with precision whilst simultaneously counteracting tilting moments.
This rolling bearing is used where shaft guides must simultaneously cope with radial loads and axial thrusts from both directions. Typical applications include bearing arrangements subject to high radial forces and axial loads on both sides. As the bearing is designed as an open variant without seals, it is usually operated in protected housing with targeted lubrication. The polyamide cage guides the rolling elements with low vibration.
This design combines dimensional accuracy to P6 with higher running accuracy to P5. In design terms, this means that the external dimensions have tighter tolerances than the basic standard, whilst the concentricity is more precisely controlled. This promotes smooth running during operation. During assembly, it is essential to ensure the shaft is carefully aligned, as the open design requires a clean installation environment.
With a bore of 35 mm, an outside diameter of 80 mm and a width of 34.9 mm, the double-row design combines the load-carrying capacity of two single-row bearings in a compact space. When designing the assembly, care must be taken to ensure a correct fit on the shaft and in the housing.
The suffix ATN9 denotes a polyamide cage, which is characterised by its low weight and elastic properties. It guides the rows of balls quietly and with low friction across the entire permissible temperature range of -20 to +120 degrees Celsius.
As an open bearing without integrated seals or cover plates, the component requires an external lubricant supply via the housing, for example through an oil bath or a regular supply of grease. An external housing seal prevents contaminants and moisture from entering the raceways.
A contact angle of 30 degrees determines the force transmission and enables the double-row angular contact ball bearing to accommodate not only high radial forces but also significant axial forces in both directions. At the same time, the geometry reliably supports any moment loads occurring at the bearing location.
The standard radial bearing clearance refers to the manufacturer’s specified clearance when the bearing is in its unmounted state, under normal operating conditions. Under standard fit conditions and at normal operating temperatures, this clearance reduces to the level required for safe operation once the bearing has been pressed into place.
The bearing is designed for a temperature range of -20 to +120 degrees Celsius. Both the standard 100Cr6 rolling bearing steel and the polyamide cage retain their dimensional stability within this range. The external lubricant used must be suited to the operating temperatures.
