The 7226 -B-MP-UA angular contact ball bearing, measuring 130 × 230 × 40 mm, is designed to withstand high combined radial and axial loads in mechanical engineering applications.
The 7226 -B-MP-UA angular contact ball bearing is an open, single-row rolling bearing from FAG, manufactured from standard bearing steel (100Cr6). Thanks to its contact angle of 40 degrees, this bearing accommodates unilateral axial forces in combination with radial forces. Fitted with a solid brass cage, the component is suitable for applications in the temperature range from -20 to +150 degrees. It complies with tolerance class P0/PN or ABEC 1 and has a standard radial clearance as supplied.
This rolling bearing is primarily used where axial forces act in a defined direction on a cylindrical shaft seat with a diameter of 130 mm. Typical applications include shaft mountings subject to combined loads, where axial guiding forces must be absorbed. As this is an open bearing without a flange or groove on the outer ring, lubrication is provided by the surrounding housing. The brass cage guides the balls evenly along the raceways, even under thermal stress.
The suffix ‘UA’ indicates a universally compatible bearing design. You can use this angular contact ball bearing individually or mount it with other UA bearings in an O, X or tandem arrangement. When fitted in pairs in an O or X arrangement, a small amount of axial play occurs without shims. During design, the main dimensions – a bore of 130 mm, an outer diameter of 230 mm and a width of 40 mm – as well as the alignment of the thrust line must be taken into account.
With main dimensions of 130 mm internal diameter, 230 mm external diameter and 40 mm width, the bearing complies with standardised dimensions. The outer ring is cylindrical in design and has neither a groove nor a flange. This allows the bearing to be fitted into through-bores in the housing.
The contact angle of 40 degrees, indicated by the suffix ‘B’, causes the force transmission between the inner and outer rings to be at an angle. This enables the component to absorb high axial forces in one direction. Under radial loading, the contact angle generates an internal axial force which must be absorbed by a counter-bearing.
The solid brass cage, marked ‘MP’, guides the rolling elements under demanding operating conditions and at temperatures ranging from -20 to +150 degrees. Brass provides mechanical stability and guides the balls with low friction. During operation, the cage reliably maintains a uniform distance between the rolling elements.
As this is an open roller bearing without sealing washers, it requires external lubrication with grease or lubricating oil via the surrounding housing. This open design allows for continuous relubrication and lubricant circulation. Protection against dirt and moisture must be provided by the design of the housing.
Bearings with the suffix ‘UA’ are universally designed for installation in pairs. When fitted in pairs in an O or X configuration, a defined, small amount of axial clearance is achieved without the need for shims. This simplifies installation in bearing arrangements that must accommodate axial forces in both directions.
The roller bearing is designed for operation within a temperature range of -20 to +150 degrees. Manufactured from standard 100Cr6 roller bearing steel with a brass cage, it maintains its dimensional stability within this temperature range in accordance with tolerance class P0/PN or ABEC 1. Any surrounding seals and lubricants must also be suitable for these temperatures.
