The FAG 7218 -B-MP-UA angular contact ball bearing, measuring 90 × 160 × 30 mm, is designed for combined radial and axial loads.
The 7218 -B-MP-UA angular contact ball bearing is a single-row rolling bearing made from standard bearing steel (100Cr6), which accommodates radial forces and single-sided axial forces. With a contact angle of 40 degrees, this design is suitable for bearing arrangements with an axial load component. The outer ring is manufactured without a flange or groove. A solid brass cage guides the rolling elements during operation. The open design allows for direct lubrication within a temperature range of -20 to +150 degrees.
This rolling bearing is used in bearing arrangements where combined forces in a defined direction must be accommodated. Thanks to the universal design (UA), the bearing can be combined in sets with bearings of the same construction. When mounted in pairs in an X or O arrangement, a specified small amount of axial clearance is established due to the design. This supports defined guidance of the supported shaft.
The suffix MP stands for a solid brass cage, which offers high mechanical strength and withstands thermal stresses. The UA design denotes a universal bearing for installation in pairs in any arrangement. Several bearings of this type can be mounted directly next to one another without the need for shims to adjust the clearance. As this is an open bearing without seals, an external housing seal must be provided.
The dimensions are 90 mm bore diameter, 160 mm outer diameter and 30 mm width. The bearing complies with tolerance class P0/PN or ABEC 1 and has an outer ring without a groove or flange.
The suffix ‘UA’ denotes a universal design for installation in pairs. When two of these bearings are fitted in an O or X configuration, a defined, small amount of axial clearance is achieved without the need for shims.
The pressure angle of 40 degrees, indicated by the suffix ‘B’, determines the force transmission within the rolling bearing. This angle enables the bearing to accommodate high unilateral axial forces in combination with radial forces.
The solid brass cage (MP) is characterised by its high strength. It maintains the dimensional stability of the rolling elements even under demanding operating conditions and is suitable for applications with increased thermal requirements.
The permissible operating temperature range for the roller bearing is between -20 and +150 degrees. As this is an open design without integrated seals, the actual temperature limit depends on the lubricant used.
Open angular contact ball bearings are not pre-lubricated with grease at the factory. Before initial commissioning, the bearing must be lubricated with a suitable grease or lubricating oil in accordance with the operating instructions.
