The FAG 7215 -B-MP-UA angular contact ball bearing, with dimensions of 75 × 130 × 25 mm and a brass cage, offers a universal solution for combined radial and axial loads.
The FAG 7215 -B-MP-UA from FAG is a single-row rolling bearing made from standard bearing steel (100Cr6) with a bore of 75 mm, an outside diameter of 130 mm and a width of 25 mm. This design accommodates radial forces and single-sided axial forces. Thanks to its standard radial clearance and robust brass cage, this open bearing is suitable for lubricated housings in industrial environments. Its universal design allows for specific pairing with defined shaft mountings.
This bearing is particularly suitable for shaft guides subjected to combined loads with a significant axial component. Typical applications include industrial drives and shaft mountings with high axial loads in one direction. Thanks to its open design without a flange or groove on the outer ring, the bearing can be integrated directly into lubricated housings. For alternating axial load directions, it is recommended to arrange two angular contact ball bearings in pairs.
The UA suffix denotes a universal bearing intended by FAG for installation in sets. When mounted in an O or X arrangement, the design ensures a small amount of axial clearance. This simplifies installation compared with individual bearings, as there is no need for time-consuming alignment or levelling. In conjunction with the 40-degree contact angle, the bearing pair absorbs axial forces in both directions and supports rotating shafts.
The roller bearing has an inside diameter of 75 mm, an outside diameter of 130 mm and a width of 25 mm. The outer ring is cylindrical in design and has neither a flange nor a ring groove. These standardised key dimensions allow for direct installation in standardised housing bores and bearing seats.
The 40-degree contact angle, denoted by the symbol B, determines the direction of force transmission between the inner and outer rings. A larger angle increases the axial load capacity of the angular contact ball bearing in relation to the radial load. Designs subject to high unilateral thrust forces benefit directly from this contact geometry.
The solid brass cage (designation MP) guides the rolling elements with minimal vibration and is suitable for demanding operating conditions. Brass is characterised by good emergency running properties and high strength. Compared with standard cages, this material withstands higher thermal loads within the permissible temperature range of -20 to +150 degrees Celsius.
As the bearing has no integrated cover or sealing washers, lubrication is provided by the surrounding unit using oil or grease. The open design allows for unobstructed lubricant flow, but requires a clean installation environment and external housing seals to protect against contamination and lubricant loss.
The designation ‘UA’ stands for universally adjustable bearings, which are fitted in pairs. When arranged in an O- or X-shape, a small amount of axial clearance is automatically established. This enables a backlash-free or precisely defined shaft guidance to accommodate axial forces from both directions.
This model is manufactured to the standard tolerance class P0 (equivalent to PN or ABEC 1). This tolerance class provides standardised levels of accuracy in terms of concentricity and dimensional stability for general industrial applications. It covers the majority of mechanical engineering bearing arrangements with normal radial clearance.
