The FAG 7204 -B-XL-TVP angular contact ball bearing accommodates combined radial and axial loads in mechanical engineering applications, whilst maintaining compact dimensions of 20 × 47 × 14 mm.
The 7204 -B-XL-TVP angular contact ball bearing is a single-row rolling bearing made from standard bearing steel 100Cr6. The design features a bore of 20 mm, an outside diameter of 47 mm and a width of 14 mm. Due to the angular arrangement of the raceways, the rolling elements transmit forces at a defined angle. The open bearing has no sealing washers and operates with standard radial clearance in tolerance class P0/PN or ABEC 1.
The 7204 -B-XL-TVP angular contact ball bearing simultaneously accommodates radial loads and unilateral axial forces on the shaft. Typical applications include shaft mountings with combined load directions. As a single-row angular contact ball bearing only accommodates axial forces in one direction, it is usually fitted in pairs with a second rolling bearing. The open design allows for unhindered lubricant exchange via the surrounding machine housing.
The contact angle of 40 degrees gives the 7204 -B-XL-TVP angular contact ball bearing a high axial load capacity in the direction of action. The integrated TVP polyamide cage guides the balls with low friction and ensures quiet operation. The permissible temperature range for this cage design is from -20 to +120 degrees. In the bearing housing design, external seals help to protect the bearing from particles.
With a bore of 20 mm, an external diameter of 47 mm and a width of 14 mm, this version requires a specific installation space. The outer ring is cylindrical, without a flange or groove. These dimensions determine the fits on the shaft and in the housing bore.
The contact angle describes the inclination of the line of contact between the rolling elements and the raceways relative to the radial plane. An angle of 40 degrees facilitates the absorption of high axial forces in one direction. The resulting loads are transmitted obliquely through the bearing.
The abbreviation TVP stands for a polyamide cage. This material is characterised by its elastic properties and low weight, which reduce friction and running noise during operation. The cage material limits the bearing’s operating temperature range to between -20 and +120 degrees.
Open roller bearings have neither integrated seals nor cover plates. They are suitable for applications where external seals are fitted to the housing and lubrication is provided via the general lubrication circuit, for example by means of an oil bath.
Due to its design, a single-row angular contact ball bearing can only accommodate axial loads in one direction. To provide guidance in both directions or to adjust the operating clearance, a second angular contact ball bearing is mounted on the shaft in a mirror-image O or X configuration and aligned axially.
This roller bearing has a standard radial clearance as supplied from the factory. The actual operating clearance is only established during installation, when the bearing is axially adjusted against a second bearing. It is manufactured to tolerance class P0/PN or ABEC 1 to meet standard industrial requirements.
