The FAG 7215 -B-XL-TVP-UA angular contact ball bearing with a 75 mm bore accommodates combined radial and axial loads at a 40-degree contact angle.
This single-row angular contact ball bearing, model 7215 -B-XL-TVP-UA from FAG, is designed to accommodate combined loads consisting of radial forces and unidirectional axial forces. Manufactured from standard rolling-bearing steel 100Cr6, this version has a bore of 75 mm, an outside diameter of 130 mm and a width of 25 mm. A dimensionally stable polyamide cage maintains the rolling elements at a uniform distance and reduces the weight of the rotating components during operation.
Designs subject to combined loads utilise the geometry of this bearing for effective load transfer. Due to the steep contact angle of 40 degrees, the component primarily absorbs axial forces in one direction whilst simultaneously withstanding radial loads. Typical applications are found in industrial bearing arrangements where shafts are guided under axial loads. The bearing is designed for a temperature range of -20 to +120 degrees and features a cylindrical outer ring without a flange or groove.
The UA designation indicates universal compatibility. When arranged in pairs in an O or X configuration, a defined, small amount of axial clearance is established within the bearing set. This simplifies installation, as no manual adjustment using shims is required. As the bearing is designed as an open unit without integrated seals, the surrounding bearing housing provides protection against contamination, whilst lubricant is supplied externally via oil or grease.
With an internal diameter of 75 mm, an external diameter of 130 mm and a width of 25 mm, the bearing complies with the standardised main dimensions of the 7215 series. The outer ring is cylindrical, without a flange or ring groove.
The contact angle describes the inclination of the line of action between the inner ring, the rolling elements and the outer ring relative to the radial plane. The 40-degree geometry of the suffix ‘B’ is specifically designed to facilitate the absorption of high axial forces in one direction whilst radial forces are also present.
The designation TVP refers to a guided solid cage made of polyamide. This cage material is elastic and is characterised by its low weight. It is suitable for operating temperatures between -20 and +120 degrees.
The suffix ‘UA’ denotes a universal design for installation in sets. When two bearings are fitted opposite each other in an O or X configuration, a defined, small amount of axial clearance is automatically established without the need to adjust spacer rings.
The roller bearing is manufactured to the standard tolerance class P0 or PN, which corresponds to the ABEC 1 classification. This classification meets the standard requirements for concentricity and dimensional accuracy in mechanical engineering.
The open design, which has no integrated seals, requires an application-specific lubrication system using grease or oil. In addition, a housing seal must be fitted to protect the interior of the bearing from the ingress of foreign particles.
