The FAG 7303 -B-XL-TVP-UA angular contact ball bearing, measuring 17 × 47 × 14 mm, accommodates combined radial and single-direction axial loads at a contact angle of 40 degrees.
The FAG 7303 -B-XL-TVP-UA angular contact ball bearing is a single-row radial ball bearing made from standard rolling-element steel (100Cr6) for industrial bearing applications. With a bore of 17 mm, an outside diameter of 47 mm and a width of 14 mm, this rolling bearing accommodates radial forces and axial loads in one direction. The 40-degree contact angle distributes combined forces obliquely to the radial plane via the balls. A polyamide cage guides the rolling element set at operating temperatures ranging from -20 to +120 degrees.
The bearing is designed to support shafts subjected to radial loads simultaneously with axial forces acting on one side only. The design requires a second, oppositely mounted bearing for axial loads acting in opposite directions. As this is an open design without integrated seals, it must be operated within a protected housing with a lubricant supply. External sealing elements in the surrounding structure shield the raceways from particles and retain the lubricant within the housing.
The designation ‘UA’ identifies this rolling bearing as a universal design for installation in sets. When mounted in pairs in an O or X arrangement, a small amount of axial play is created structurally. Both units can be aligned directly against each other without additional shims. The dimensions comply with tolerance class P0 (ABEC 1), whilst the polyamide cage limits the operating temperature to a maximum of +120 degrees.
The bearing has an inside diameter of 17 mm, an outside diameter of 47 mm and a width across flats of 14 mm. The outer ring is cylindrical in design and has neither a flange nor a ring groove. These mounting dimensions allow it to be fitted into standardised housing bores and onto cylindrical shaft seats.
A contact angle of 40 degrees means that the lines of contact between the balls and the raceways run at an angle to the radial plane. This geometry allows high axial forces to be accommodated in one direction. If forces act from both directions, two single-row bearings are arranged back-to-back.
The open design, which does not feature sliding sealing discs, ensures low frictional torque during operation. The component is suitable for oil or grease lubrication within enclosed housings. External housing seals must be incorporated into the surrounding structure to provide protection against dirt particles and moisture.
The polyamide cage (designation TVP) is characterised by its low weight and elastic guiding properties. It guides the rolling elements evenly between the rings. The polyamide material is specified for continuous operating temperatures ranging from -20 to +120 degrees.
This bearing complies with tolerance class P0 (equivalent to ABEC 1) and has a standard radial clearance. When fitted in pairs in an O or X configuration, the UA alignment ensures a defined installation condition with minimal axial play. This design simplifies assembly without the need for fitting adjustments.
Suitable lubricants include roller bearing greases or oils with a temperature range of -20 to +120 degrees. The choice of lubricant type and relubrication interval depends on the operating conditions and the speed of the bearing in question.
