The SKF 7220 BECBP single-row angular contact ball bearing with a 100 mm bore accommodates combined radial and axial loads at a 40-degree contact angle.
The SKF 7220 BECBP angular contact ball bearing is an open, single-row rolling bearing made from standard bearing steel (100Cr6) in the Explorer performance class. With key dimensions of 100 mm inner diameter, 180 mm outer diameter and 34 mm width, the component transmits simultaneously occurring radial and axial forces. The forces are applied at an angle to the radial plane. As an open bearing, the bearing assembly can be integrated into existing lubrication circuits.
This rolling bearing is used where unidirectional axial forces occur in conjunction with radial forces. Typical applications can be found in industrial bearing arrangements subject to combined loads. Thanks to its universal design, the bearing pair is suitable for defined mounting with low axial clearance when fitted in a mirror-image O or X arrangement. The permissible temperature range is from -20 to +120 degrees.
The BECBP version features a polyamide cage that guides the rolling elements with minimal vibration. A nominal contact angle of 40 degrees gives the component a high axial load-carrying capacity in one direction. Furthermore, the manufacturing process combines dimensional accuracy to tolerance class P6 with enhanced running accuracy of class P5. As an open design, the bearing location requires a clean installation environment and external sealing of the housing.
The designation refers to a single-row angular contact ball bearing with a 100 mm bore, an 180 mm outside diameter and a width of 34 mm. The letter B stands for the 40-degree contact angle, whilst CB indicates a pair of bearings with low axial clearance in an O or X arrangement. The designator P denotes the integrated polyamide cage.
The bearing has an inside diameter of 100 mm, an outside diameter of 180 mm and a width across flats of 34 mm. The outer ring is cylindrical, with no flange or groove. These dimensions correspond to the standardised dimensions for size 7220.
The bearing pair is designed for mirror-image mounting in an O or X configuration. In both of these configurations, a small amount of axial play is inherent in the design. This enables the shaft to be guided in a controlled manner when subjected to varying or opposing axial forces.
The open design, which does not feature sealing washers, allows for direct lubrication via the bearing’s oil or grease circuit. Lubricants can circulate freely and dissipate operating heat. In the case of open bearings, protection against dirt and moisture is provided by external housing seals.
The 7220 BECBP angular contact ball bearing, featuring standard roller bearing steel (100Cr6) and a polyamide cage, is designed for operating temperatures ranging from -20 to +120 degrees. Within these limits, the polyamide cage retains its mechanical strength and guiding properties for the rolling elements.
For this bearing, the connection dimensions are subject to the limit deviations of tolerance class P6 for dimensional accuracy. The running accuracy corresponds to the more tightly tolerated class P5. This combination ensures low-vibration and smooth concentricity during operation.
