The AHX2317 pull-off sleeve secures roller bearings with tapered bores onto 80 mm metric shafts, with dimensions of 80 x 95 x 74 mm, in mechanical engineering.
The AHX2317 pull-off sleeve serves as a fastening element for roller bearings with a tapered bore on cylindrical shafts. With a bore of 80 mm, an external diameter of 95 mm and a width of 74 mm, this component fits precisely into matched assemblies. The sleeve is press-fitted axially into the annular gap between the shaft and the inner ring of the bearing. This enables the sleeve to provide a force-fit connection that can be quickly released in the event of repairs.
Typical applications include bearing arrangements subject to regular maintenance cycles or inspections. The sleeve is suitable for self-aligning roller bearings or self-aligning ball bearings where the inner ring abuts against a fixed shaft shoulder. Pressing the sleeve into place reduces the bearing clearance in the rolling bearing by a defined amount, which contributes to smooth running of the shaft bearing. Compared with permanently pressed-in bearings, this design facilitates subsequent repair work on the shaft.
The outer surface has the standardised taper ratio of 1:12, matching the internal contour of common bearing series. When sliding the bearing onto the metric shaft, care must be taken to ensure that the bearing remains axially supported. For press-fitting and for subsequent removal, a suitable groove nut engages with the designated thread on the sleeve. As the product is supplied without a retaining plate or groove nut, designers and fitters must select these fasteners separately, tailored to the respective mounting dimensions.
The sleeve is used to securely mount roller bearings with tapered bores onto smooth or stepped cylindrical shafts. During press-fitting, the sleeve expands the inner ring and reduces the radial clearance. To remove the bearing, fitters screw a groove nut onto the sleeve’s thread, allowing the press fit to be carefully pushed off the shaft.
The dimensions are 80 mm for the bore, 95 mm for the outer diameter and 74 mm for the overall width. The shaft diameter must fit the 80 mm bore exactly. The external taper ratio is 1:12, which corresponds to the standard design for many self-aligning roller bearings and self-aligning ball bearings.
The scope of supply includes the sleeve in the standard version without a retaining plate or groove nut. A compatible slotted nut with a metric thread and the corresponding retaining element are required for installation and subsequent removal. These components can be selected separately depending on the specific space available within the housing.
Mounting sleeves pull the bearing onto the tapered shaft and do not require a shaft shoulder. The withdrawal sleeve, on the other hand, is actively pressed between the shaft and the inner ring, whilst the rolling bearing must necessarily abut against a fixed shoulder. This makes it particularly easy to remove heavy bearings without causing damage during maintenance.
The ratio of 1:12 describes the increase in the outer diameter relative to the axial length. For every 12 mm of sleeve width, the diameter changes by 1 mm. This dimension corresponds to the standard bore of many roller bearings with a tapered inner ring and ensures uniform force transmission on the shaft.
