The SKF 33211 tapered roller bearing, measuring 55 × 100 × 35 mm, is a single-row roller bearing designed to withstand high combined radial and axial loads.
The 33211 tapered roller bearing is a single-row roller bearing from SKF in a tried-and-tested standard design. It has a bore of 55 mm, an outer diameter of 100 mm and a width of 35 mm. Designed in the Explorer performance class, the bearing simultaneously absorbs axial and radial forces. As the inner ring, including the roller set, can be separated from the outer ring, you can mount the components separately into the housing and onto the shaft, saving time.
This tapered roller bearing is suitable for bearing arrangements where unilateral axial forces occur alongside high radial forces. As single-row tapered roller bearings can only accommodate axial loads in one direction, they are usually fitted in a mirrored pair with a second bearing. Manufactured to tolerance class P0/PN or ABEC 1, they ensure dimensionally stable guidance in continuous industrial use. Design engineers use this design as a standardised component for shaft bearings with combined load directions.
The integrated sheet steel cage guides the tapered rollers with low vibration and withstands mechanical stresses. In conjunction with the specified temperature range of –30 to +120 degrees Celsius, the bearing is suitable for thermally demanding operating environments in mechanical engineering. As an Explorer variant, the rolling bearing features optimised transition radii and raceway profiles, which reduce friction. When installing, ensure that the bearing clearance is correctly adjusted relative to the mating bearing to support even load distribution across the entire row of rollers.
The bearing has an inner diameter of 55 mm, an outer diameter of 100 mm and a total width of 35 mm. These standardised key dimensions enable it to be fitted precisely into suitable bearing housings and onto dimensionally accurate shaft seats. The bearings are manufactured to tolerance class P0/PN or ABEC 1 for standard industrial applications.
This SKF tapered roller bearing is specified for a temperature range of -30 to +120 degrees Celsius. This design allows it to be used in both warm and cold operating environments. The integrated sheet steel cage retains its dimensional stability even under thermal stresses within this range and guides the rollers evenly.
In single-row tapered roller bearings, the inner ring with its roller cage and the outer ring are structurally separate. This design facilitates step-by-step installation and removal. You can press the outer ring separately into the housing bore and slide the inner ring onto the shaft before the two assemblies mesh together during assembly.
The angular contact roller bearings transmit forces at an angle to the bearing axis. As a result, the bearing supports radial loads as well as axial forces from one direction. To accommodate axial forces from both directions, a second tapered roller bearing is usually mounted in an O or X arrangement, with the bearings positioned in a mirror-image configuration.
This designation describes the standard accuracy class for dimensional and running error tolerances in accordance with international standards. P0 or PN corresponds to the standard tolerance, whilst ABEC 1 represents the equivalent US classification. For common machine and gearbox applications, this class offers practical running accuracy.
At SKF, ‘Explorer’ refers to advanced rolling bearings with a refined surface finish and improved internal contact geometries. Optimised roller end profiles and raceways ensure that contact stress is distributed more evenly under high loads. This reduces internal wear and ensures smooth shaft guidance during operation.
