The FAG 32028-X tapered roller bearing is designed for combined loads consisting of radial and single-direction axial forces, with dimensions of 140 × 210 × 45 mm.
The FAG 32028 -X tapered roller bearing is a single-row roller bearing in standard design. It accommodates both radial forces and axial loads from one direction simultaneously. The tapered raceways allow the tapered rolling elements to roll along them. The complete bearing consists of the inner ring with a roller cage and the separate outer ring. This allows the two bearing components to be fitted and aligned separately from one another.
In mechanical designs and shaft mountings, a single single-row tapered roller bearing, by its very design, can only accommodate axial forces in one direction. For this reason, in practice, users usually fit a second bearing in a mirror-image configuration on the shaft as a counter-bearing. This paired arrangement guides the shaft axially in both directions and allows for the precise adjustment of the operating clearance or a defined preload.
The integrated sheet steel cage maintains an even spacing between the tapered rollers and prevents direct contact between the rolling elements. This reduces friction and heat build-up during rotational movement. The component is designed for a temperature range of –30 to +120 degrees. With a tolerance class of P0/PN or ABEC 1, the bearing complies with the standardised specifications for dimensional accuracy and concentricity in industrial applications.
The bearing has an internal diameter of 140 mm, an external diameter of 210 mm and a total width of 45 mm. Designers and maintenance engineers use these mounting dimensions to check the available installation space on the shaft and within the housing prior to fitting.
The outer ring can be fitted separately from the inner ring and the roller set, as the bearing is not self-retaining. This separability facilitates sequential installation in housings and on shafts, as well as inspections during routine machine maintenance.
The permissible operating range is between -30 and +120 degrees. Within this temperature range, the bearing rings, tapered rollers and the integrated sheet steel cage retain their dimensional stability. A lubricant approved for this temperature range must be selected for operation.
The component complies with standard tolerance class P0/PN or ABEC 1. This classification defines the permissible dimensional and running tolerances for rolling bearings in general mechanical engineering, thereby facilitating replacement in accordance with standards during repairs and new designs.
A single bearing absorbs axial forces from one direction only. To accommodate axial forces acting from both sides, operators position two tapered roller bearings opposite each other. The required bearing clearance or preload is set during assembly by adjusting the rings.
