The SKF 32021 X tapered roller bearing, with dimensions of 105 × 160 × 35 mm, can simultaneously withstand high radial and axial forces in one direction.
The 32021 X tapered roller bearing is a single-row rolling bearing in the SKF Explorer performance class. It consists of an inner ring with a guided set of rollers and a separate outer ring. With a bore of 105 mm, an outside diameter of 160 mm and a total width of 35 mm, this size is suitable for applications involving high combined loads. The integrated sheet steel cage guides the rollers evenly along the raceway. The bearing is designed for an operating temperature range of –30 to +120 degrees.
The single-row tapered roller bearing 32021 X simultaneously accommodates high radial forces and axial forces from one direction. Due to the angular contact of the raceways, the bearing transfers these combined loads directly to the surrounding structure. To accommodate axial forces from both sides, a second tapered roller bearing is usually positioned symmetrically opposite, which also allows the desired operating clearance of the shaft to be precisely adjusted.
This bearing is manufactured to tolerance class P0/PN, which corresponds to the ABEC 1 classification. This standard tolerance meets the requirements for common fits in industrial applications. The dimensionally stable sheet steel cage ensures a low weight and maintains a uniform spacing between the rolling elements. As the inner and outer rings can be fitted separately, installation onto the shaft and into the housing is simplified.
The bearing has an inside diameter of 105 mm, an outside diameter of 160 mm and a total width of 35 mm. These standard dimensions define the required installation space on the shaft and in the housing bore. Before installation, check that the existing bearing seat complies with these mounting dimensions.
Thanks to the inclined roller tracks, the design simultaneously absorbs high radial and axial forces in one direction. To accommodate axial loads on both sides, a second tapered roller bearing in an O or X arrangement is always required as a counter bearing. This also allows the desired operating clearance in the system to be precisely adjusted.
The Explorer classification denotes bearings with optimised raceway geometry and improved surface finish on the rolling elements. These design refinements promote the formation of a lubricating film in the contact area between the roller and the raceway. In continuous industrial use, this results in greater operational reliability and reduced friction under demanding load conditions.
The approved operating temperature range is from -30 to +120 degrees. This range is determined by the metallurgical dimensional stability of the components and the sheet steel cage used in the construction. When commissioning the unit, please ensure that the lubricant used is also suitable for this temperature range.
The inner ring, together with the roller cage, and the outer ring can be fitted separately. This allows both components to be press-fitted onto the shaft or fitted into the housing independently of one another. This prevents forces being transmitted directly via the rolling elements during the assembly process and facilitates future maintenance work.
According to international standards, P0 denotes the standard tolerance class for metric rolling bearings and corresponds to the ABEC 1 classification. It specifies the permissible dimensional and concentricity deviations for diameters and widths. This accuracy grade covers the vast majority of industrial requirements in mechanical engineering.
