The SKF 32020 X tapered roller bearing accommodates combined radial and axial loads and, with its main dimensions of 100 × 150 × 32 mm, is suitable for demanding shaft mountings.
The single-row 32020 X tapered roller bearing simultaneously withstands high radial forces and axial forces from one direction. As a complete tapered roller bearing in the SKF Explorer design, this rolling bearing features a dimensionally stable sheet steel cage that guides the truncated cone-shaped rollers evenly along the raceways. The bearing is designed for a temperature range of -30 to +120 degrees and complies with the standard tolerances of tolerance class P0/PN or ABEC 1.
It is primarily fitted in bearing locations where high radial forces occur in combination with axial forces acting from one side, and where precise shaft guidance is required. As a single tapered roller bearing, by its very design, can only accommodate axial forces in one direction, it is fitted in combination with a second, oppositely mounted tapered roller bearing in an O or X arrangement.
The sheet steel cage maintains the rollers at a uniform distance and prevents direct contact between the rolling elements, which contributes to smooth running. In combination with the SKF Explorer design, the internal geometry is characterised by optimised transitions at the raceways. During assembly, the separable design facilitates the separate installation of the outer ring (cup) and the inner ring assembly (cone), allowing the desired operating clearance to be adjusted via axial preload.
With a bore of 100 mm, an external diameter of 150 mm and a total width of 32 mm, the bearing complies with standardised key dimensions. These dimensions ensure a precise fit when installed on suitable shafts and in corresponding housing bores.
Thanks to the angled raceways, the bearing can accommodate high radial loads as well as axial loads from a single direction. If an axial load is applied in alternating directions, two tapered roller bearings must be mounted in a mirror-image configuration to enable guidance in both directions.
The P0 classification (according to DIN/ISO) or ABEC 1 defines the standard tolerance for dimensional accuracy, radial run-out and axial run-out. This tolerance class reliably meets the requirements of typical standard industrial bearings.
The permissible temperature range is between -30 and +120 degrees. This covers standard thermal operating conditions, provided that the selected lubricant is also suitable for the relevant operating range.
The assembly is fitted with a pressed sheet steel cage. This design offers mechanical stability whilst keeping the weight low, and ensures that the roller set remains precisely spaced even under varying operating conditions.
Due to its non-self-retaining design, the outer ring can be fitted separately from the unit comprising the inner ring and roller cage. This simplifies the assembly process and allows for precise adjustment of the bearing clearance during installation.
