The FAG 32205 single-row tapered roller bearing, with dimensions of 25 × 52 × 19.25 mm, can withstand high radial and unilateral axial loads.
The FAG 32205 tapered roller bearing is a separable, single-row roller bearing designed for demanding mechanical drives. Thanks to the line contact between the tapered rollers and the raceways, this design can handle high radial loads whilst providing axial guidance in one direction. This product is a complete tapered roller bearing, comprising an inner ring with a roller cage and a matching outer ring. The design complies with the standard tolerance class P0/PN or ABEC 1 and is suitable for both industrial repairs and new constructions.
The 32205 tapered roller bearing is primarily used where combined loads and precise shaft guidance are required. Common applications include gearbox shafts and bearing arrangements in general mechanical engineering. As a single tapered roller bearing can only accommodate axial forces from one direction, it is usually fitted in a mirrored arrangement with a mating bearing. This paired configuration allows for precise adjustment of the bearing clearance and results in a rigid bearing arrangement.
The integrated sheet steel cage guides the rollers at a fixed distance and is designed for an operating temperature range of –30 to +120 degrees Celsius. The material is resistant to common lubricating oils and greases and ensures precise guidance of the rolling elements under dynamic loads. Furthermore, the separable design facilitates assembly: the outer ring can be fitted into the housing independently of the pre-assembled inner ring set, which simplifies handling compared to non-separable bearings.
This roller bearing has a bore of 25 mm, an outer diameter of 52 mm and a total width of 19.25 mm. Thanks to its standardised main dimensions, the component can be fitted directly into suitable bearing seats and housings, which speeds up the procurement of spare parts for maintenance engineers and repair workshops.
This design accommodates high radial forces as well as axial forces acting in one direction. Due to the tapered arrangement of the raceways and rollers, a radial load generates an axial force component within the bearing. In practice, the bearing is therefore usually mounted in conjunction with a second tapered roller bearing to accommodate axial forces in both directions.
The permissible temperature range is between -30 and +120 degrees Celsius. Within these limits, the rolling elements and the integrated sheet steel cage retain their dimensional stability. When selecting the grease or oil, you should ensure that the lubricant used is suitable for this temperature range.
This specification describes the standard tolerance for dimensional and running accuracy in accordance with current industry standards. Bearings in this class meet the standard requirements for general mechanical engineering. They provide a defined guidance accuracy for rotating shafts without the need for tighter, specialised tolerances.
The outer ring can be fitted separately from the inner ring, together with the cage and set of rollers. This allows you to press the outer ring into the housing and the inner ring onto the shaft separately. The required axial play is only adjusted using shims or shaft nuts when the assemblies are joined together.
A sheet steel cage keeps the tapered rollers at a uniform distance apart and prevents direct contact between the rolling elements. The metal material offers high thermal resistance and is resistant to most industrial mineral oils and standard greases, which is beneficial for continuous operation in gearboxes.
