The 32008-X tapered roller bearing from FAG Wälzlager accommodates combined radial and axial loads and measures 40 × 68 × 19 mm.
The 32008 -X tapered roller bearing is used as a complete rolling bearing in applications where combined loads consisting of radial and axial forces act on the shaft. The design comprises an inner ring, an outer ring and a guided roller cage. Thanks to the tapered raceways, the rolling elements roll with low friction. This FAG rolling bearing model complies with tolerance class P0/PN or ABEC 1 and thus meets the standard accuracy requirements in mechanical engineering and gearbox construction.
Typical applications for this tapered roller bearing include general mechanical engineering, gearboxes and shaft mountings. As a single-row bearing can only accommodate axial forces from one direction, it is usually paired with a second bearing during operation. This arrangement ensures precise guidance of shafts whilst they are subjected to radial loads. This design proves its worth where installation space and load-carrying capacity must be balanced.
The integrated sheet steel cage maintains a uniform spacing between the roller-shaped rolling elements and resists mechanical vibrations. The permissible temperature range extends from –30 to +120 degrees Celsius, making the bearing suitable for varying thermal conditions within enclosed housings. Tolerance class P0/PN ensures a precise fit. The outer ring can be fitted separately, which simplifies installation in split bearing seats.
The bearing has an inner diameter of 40 mm, an outer diameter of 68 mm and a total width of 19 mm. These standardised key dimensions allow for direct replacement in machine designs with appropriately sized bearing seats.
P0 and PN denote the standard tolerance class, whilst ABEC 1 represents the equivalent classification in the US. This classification defines the permissible deviations in dimensions, shape and running accuracy for industrial applications with standard accuracy requirements.
The permissible operating range is between -30 and +120 degrees Celsius. Within this temperature range, the components and the sheet steel cage retain their dimensional stability and mechanical properties when properly lubricated during continuous operation.
Due to its design, a single-row tapered roller bearing can only absorb axial forces from one direction. To provide axial guidance for shafts on both sides, a second tapered roller bearing is arranged in a mirror-image configuration, so that both bearings operate in opposition to one another with a defined preload or clearance.
The sheet steel cage separates the cylindrical rolling elements from one another and guides them in parallel along the raceway. It prevents direct contact between the rolling elements, reduces friction and ensures that the rollers are guided in an orderly manner under vibrational loads.
Tapered roller bearings are not of a self-retaining design. The inner ring, together with the set of rollers and the cage, forms a single unit, whilst the outer ring can be removed separately. This feature makes it easier to press the rings into housings and onto shafts separately.
