The SKF 32313 tapered roller bearing, with dimensions of 65 × 140 × 51 mm, is designed to withstand high radial loads as well as axial loads on one side in mechanical engineering applications.
The single-row tapered roller bearing 32313 is designed as a complete rolling bearing and consists of an inner ring with a set of rollers and the matching outer ring. With a bore of 65 mm, an outside diameter of 140 mm and a width of 51 mm, this design is one of the heavily dimensioned bearings for heavy-duty industrial applications. As an SKF Explorer variant, the bearing features a specially optimised internal geometry for even load distribution.
The 32313 tapered roller bearing is primarily used where high radial forces and single-sided axial forces occur simultaneously. Typical applications include gearbox construction, industrial drives and supported shaft systems. As single-row tapered roller bearings can only support axial forces in one direction, designers usually fit them in pairs in a mirror-image arrangement. Thanks to their separable design, the inner and outer rings can be installed separately.
A dimensionally stable sheet steel cage guides the rolling elements precisely and maintains a defined spacing between them, even at varying speeds. The bearing is designed for operating temperatures ranging from –30 to +120 degrees. With the standard tolerance in accordance with tolerance class P0/PN or ABEC 1, the component meets the standard requirements of general mechanical engineering for dimensional and concentricity accuracy, which makes replacement during maintenance work predictable and reproducible regardless of the manufacturer.
With a bore of 65 mm, an external diameter of 140 mm and a total width of 51 mm, the component complies with standard metric dimensions. These dimensions ensure a precise fit when installed on machined shafts and in gearbox housings designed to the corresponding dimensions.
This single-row design is intended for high radial forces combined with unilateral axial forces. Due to the angular orientation of the raceways, a radial load generates an axial force component; for this reason, a second counter-bearing is usually incorporated into the design to provide guidance.
Explorer denotes an optimised performance class from the manufacturer SKF. Thanks to a more finely tuned internal geometry and further-developed contact surfaces between the rollers and flanges, this design promotes the formation of a stable lubricating film and ensures even stress distribution.
The permissible operating temperature range is from -30 to +120 degrees. The choice of lubricant is crucial for reliable operation: both greases and oils must be suited to these temperature conditions and the respective operating viscosity.
The cage, made of pressed sheet steel, guides the tapered rollers at a defined distance and prevents direct contact between the rolling elements. The slim design allows sufficient space for lubricant distribution and remains dimensionally stable even at temperatures of up to +120 degrees.
P0 and PN denote the standard tolerance class in accordance with ISO and DIN specifications, whilst ABEC 1 represents the corresponding US classification. This precision grade defines the permissible limit deviations for bore, diameter and concentricity for standard industrial applications.
