The FAG 33205 tapered roller bearing, measuring 25 × 52 × 22 mm, is designed to withstand high radial and single-direction axial loads in mechanical engineering.
The 33205 tapered roller bearing is a single-row roller bearing from FAG in a standard metric design. The complete bearing consists of an inner ring with a guided roller cage and the corresponding outer ring. Thanks to the tapered roller geometry, this component simultaneously transmits radial loads and axial forces from a single direction. Typical applications include bearing arrangements with combined loads, where precise shaft guidance is required.
Designers primarily use this rolling bearing where combined loads occur and high transverse rigidity is required. As single-row tapered roller bearings can only accommodate axial forces in one direction, designers usually mount the bearings in pairs in an X or O configuration opposite a second bearing. This allows the desired operating or preload to be set in the bearing seat. The permissible temperature range extends from –30 to +120 degrees Celsius.
The cage, made of pressed sheet steel, guides the tapered rollers evenly along the inner ring raceway. This design serves to keep the rolling elements at a distance from one another and to prevent direct contact between the rollers. The component is manufactured to tolerance class P0 or ABEC 1, which corresponds to the standard tolerance for industrial applications. As the inner and outer rings can be fitted separately, this facilitates installation in housings and onto shafts.
With a bore of 25 mm, an outside diameter of 52 mm and a total width of 22 mm, the bearing requires a clearly defined installation space on the shaft and within the housing. These metric dimensions enable the design of suitable bearing seats in mechanical engineering.
Due to its design, a single single-row tapered roller bearing can only accommodate axial forces in one direction. If axial loads occur in alternating directions, two tapered roller bearings must be arranged in a mirror-image configuration, usually in a conventional O or X arrangement.
Tapered roller bearings are not of a self-retaining design. The inner ring, together with the set of rollers and the sheet steel cage, forms a single unit, whilst the outer ring can be removed separately. This allows the inner and outer rings to be pressed onto the shaft and housing in turn.
This FAG bearing is specified for an operating temperature range of -30 to +120 degrees Celsius. Within these limits, the bearing rings and the sheet steel cage retain their dimensional stability. You must take these operating conditions into account when selecting the lubricant.
Classification according to tolerance class P0 or ABEC 1 describes the standardised normal tolerance for dimensional and running errors in general mechanical engineering. Bearings of this type meet the standard industrial requirements for concentricity and fit accuracy at normal speeds.
